You may visit both Pamukkale thermal pools and Ancient Hierapolis complex together. I found the Pamukkale thermal very interesting but as you walk up there you will found your self in Hierapolis complex site were you can visit many ancient site from a museum and an ancient amphitheatre to even a hot pool. It's a very good site to visit for half a day. Sandals will be very useful and do not forget your cameras.

First visited 40 years ago and it has been so much improved in that time. One of the most unique attractions anywhere and well worth the visit.

Make sure you have enough time to walk around and see more than the standard sights. This will give you better photo opportunities away from the crowds. The salt lakes were very busy, this took away from the beauty. It was hard to navigate around the lakes as quite uncomfortable underfoot (shoes are not allowed). The hierapolis is beautiful allow yourself some time here.

After a long journey from cappadosia, we arrived at pamukale and visited this beautiful place. A 10 to 15mins walk from the entrance and we arrived at the lime stone pools of water and it was a magnificent view from the top. Had some snacks and walk around the ancient city of hierapolis took some pictures but unfortunately we cannot see the sunset as it was covered by the clouds. Dipped my legs in one of the pools and it was nice and refreshing. 10/10 would recommend to visit this magnificent place.

Don't get excited seeing all those nice pictures with pristine blue waters in the natural white silica pools. They are probably old, or fake.
Me an friends were there on March 25. Except some man-made pools that are functional, everything else is dry and tarnished. We walked for the bottom (town) up to the South Gate, to the Thermal bath and shops, then all the way to the North Gate. Everything is dead. There are some terraced pools between the Hierapolis and Necropolis, towards the North Gate, those are also dry and dirty. What once was beautiful and attracted thousand of people now is in disarray.
A guy in town that sold us some guides and postcards told us to go see the Red Waters, same idea of pool with hot thermal waters. We went but that proved to be another waste of time. I'll write a review on that as well.
I though the white pools will be nicer but I ended up liked the ruins instead, those didn't change much.
Advise: check before you go, might not be worth the drive, our case exactly, we drove a lot to make this attraction a priority.

The day trip to Hierapolis/Pammukale was probably one of my worst and most disappointing.
I don’t know which era those pictures with the pristine white travertine are from - maybe the 90s! - but sadly today they are a yellow-stained grey colour. The whole cliff looks like dirty melting snow. I cannot believe I just spent 16 hours on a coach to get to this. Seriously do not waste your time - it’s just an ugly tourist trap.

Grazie

You can take the public bus from Fethiye to Denizli. From Denizli take the local bus to pamukkale. There you can go by your own...But İts better to get a guide and do a tour to pamukkale. Why? Cheaper, faster, easier and better
