Although you can see the whirling dervishes in several places in Turkey, seeing them "dance" in this building made the experience more meaningful. The building, originally one on the caravan route to the east, has been restored and is a beautiful structure. One can see...More

We had just one day in Cappadocia and we had to decide between watching this performance or doing the Turkish Nights. Yenner, our guide for the Underground City convinced us to go to the Saruhan. Thank you Yenner ! The performance is in a beautiful...More

If you are going to attend the religious Whirling Dervish ceremony try one that is authentic. This one is and is very well explained. It was fascinating watching the priests move in and out of their trance while they danced. Very moving. Forget what you've...More

If you are looking for a narrated entertainment this is not the experience for you. This event allows a visitor the opportunity to observe Sufi Muslims practicing a religious rite. It is akin to attending mass; beautiful and moving, but not intended to be mainstream...More

This show on a cold March night was a calming revelation against the hustle and bustle of our tour. We watched the show which at one time was a religious ceremony but now is a meditation route for the men. There was a quiet dignity...More

Originally it's a Seljuck Caravanserai from 1200's, built on the silk road. Located just outside of Avanos village, it's one of the most preserved caravanserais in the region. There is a summer section and winter (indoor) section, as well as a small coffee shop and...More

I thought this Whirling Dervish evening would just be a hokey-for-the-tourist-show, and maybe it is, but it's really beautiful an very moving. If you've never done one, try it. And this is done in the fantastically restored Saruhan Carevanserai which is worth seeing anyway.

I believe it was about 8 PM. The hotel will arrange for pick up and return for you. I think the shows are only in the evening. It can be cool so take jacket.
