It was a show for tourists, no doubt, as there were only tourists present, for what was once an ecstasy-seeking religious ceremony has been reduced to just that. With that in mind, it was however worth seeing the virtuoso performance of these Medlevi Darvishes and imagine, as I can only do that, the real thing.

The show is actually a prayer. It was recited in a different language and though we were given a pamphlet with a brief description in English, it did not suffice. I felt lost during the actual prayer ceremony. I would not see this again. I do understand that it's extremely hard work to whirl around continuously for an hr and... More

This was a new but very interesting and enjoyable experience. Would recommend it highly for tourists to see. Our tour guide briefed us on it before so we knew what to expect and the story behind them. The performance was in a building constructed like the buildings along the Silk Road I believe which was an interesting venue. Fascinating performance.

Okay I know that it was a cultural thing and yes that part was interesting but to fill the rest of the show with audience participation to me was cheap, taking the artistic value away from the performance. I gave one vote for the food and one vote for the show; come on you guys rethink the show and make... More

We visited the authentic whirling dervish. A bit overpriced for what we saw. We spent 45 minutes watching men whirling in a trance like state. It became quite repetitive and we became sleepy and a bit bored. Don't expect a show! Rather try and find the cheapest show to watch for a very short period of time.

It has been a long held dream to see the Whirling Dervish. The experience did not let me down. It is a fantastic mystical experience. The rite including the music and the symbolism is one you will always remember

It was good to experience this aspect of turkish culture but it went on and on for far too long with the same thing.

Something you should see while in this region. It is amazing to see these people whirling and in a trance. It is somewhat disturbing to see them totally out of their heads. It is very interesting to learn their beliefs and to have this experience. Something that is worth doing once.

the 13 c caravansary is a thing of beauty. the dervishes are only actors doing 2 shows per nite and take themselves v seriously. we had a v good guide and knew the symbolism but the show, 45 minutes was 30 min. too long. still if you are in the area, it is an accurate presentation of an outlawed sect
