Breath taking landscape backed with enchanting deep history. A must visit! Climbing and absorbing all around are the strongest memories! Pigeon houses and cold weather also comes to mind so be sure to wrap up during the first few weeks of April!

This place has some of the earliest churches in Christianity. You can see frescoes painted inside several of the churches. There is a nice museum and snack bar too. The place is mostly accessible for disabled.

I visited cappadocia with a tour and the fist place we visited was Göreme National Park. The guide explained the history of all the churches all around and when they were used as churches and houses, the history of Christianity that goes back to the 1st century. The place is literally amazing, it's an open air museum. Take your time... More

This is an amazing, must see place in Turkey! I do not think that anyone would be disappointed visiting Cappadocia. There are many beautiful hikes and it is dripping with rich history. I will be back!

The Göreme Open Air Museum shows a number of religious buildings: churches and monasteries. Some are over 1,000 years old, all are carved into the rocks. You can also see some beautifully restored frescoes here. Not easily navigated due to stairs etc. but worth the climb.

The geology of this area is unique and fascinating. Be sure you come prepared to take lots of photos. The open air museum is highly recommended and the chapels with their more than 1000yr old remarkably well preserved frescos are a highlight. I visited on a rainy day but that didn't detract from the experience

The Goreme National Park and Cappadocia in general were unusual, fascinating, and worth going out of your way for. We did not get there on our last trip to Turkey and were determined to do so this time. It more than lived up to our hopes. Unlike anything you'll see anywhere else and full of fascinating history.
