Wow couldn't believe it so "unpromoted" - A star attraction and photo paradise!!

Kanachanburi is TOTALLY BORING and hot, until you go to Prommitr Films studios, I'd had enough of fighting through an armada of noisy tourists trapesing up and down over the rebuilt “new old” bridge and so I hopped on a cab to nearby Prommitr film studios. What a stunning revelation about 60 acres of amazing Prince Naresuan movie props, oh, by “props” I mean huge statues, many different style temples, Kings Hall in gold, Cambodian, even a Chinese brothel set. All used in the many famous Naresuan films by director Prince Chatri Chalerm Yukol. My god it's a ruddy photographer's paradise, lakes, landscape backdrops, bridges over a moat, props, HUGE green screen. Also ask for Chaval Hicky too (friendly english-speaking dude) who has a great wedding photographers studio and Thai set over the main cafe and he can dress you up in selection of Thai traditional costume for the ultimate travel pics in Thai costume too. Food's ok, mainly Thai, not so good. It's often used for big events such as a puppet festival, and there is a seasonal floating market. There is a golden King's hall, boats on lakes and rice-fields. It's open all year around and the reviews don't really do it any justice, areas are being renovated of course and some of the props are made to look old duh!!!!! Give it a go and pay on the door (Thais get in for less and that's good) it's all in a good cause take your SLR camera, a drone (yes they don't mind!) and some lenses and some sandwiches in a lunch box. Plan for the whole day until photographer's “golden hour” for the finale stunning lake shots!!n hour” for the stunning lake shots!!

Not as it used to be

The studio used to be a tourist attraction 7-8 years ago, but now is almost derelict as it is no longer used. The signposts are no longer there but one can get there via Google Map directions. There are still a few interesting things to see, but gone are the wardrobe and weapon stores. One can either walk around the vast site (not recommended on a hot day) or take the bus tour for100 baht per person. The photos here were mostly taken by the bus driver.

increibly historic

It is hard to believe -- when just looking -- that the structures and statues are NOT real; most are plastic! Wonderful tour on a open vehicle that allows you to take pix at will. Plenty of shopping and food as well.

Not far from Lat Ya but not well known, a nice little market outside. I have been here before but it seems neglected. Food and coffee shops outside v nice but unfortunately it was to hot to look around. Set used on Thai tv

Lack of maintenance, so a littoe bit run down.
But for Thai people its very intrestingm because they can see the filmsets of the immens popular king Narasuan movies

Fun!

It has seen better days but imagine getting to see the magic of Thai movie making. They have a ton of props and you can basically explore at your own leisure. The village in front is accommodating with food stalls and snacks(Thai food). Very inexpensive and no double pricing(Any place that charges one price of both Farang and Thai should be rewarded). It is a fun excursion. Note: There is an animal park near the airport right at the entrance to the military base.

Better than I expected, what with the sets, props etc.We went in the middle of the day and it was tiring. You can get a lttle cartie trip around, which would probably have been easier.
It's actually on an army site, so I don't know that it's open now, or if it is, what the vibe will be like

2 tier pricing
Dec 2013
This is aimed at Thais so why the need for double pricing for foreigners???
Worn out and outright dangerous in some parts with rusty nails, falling roofs etc. a constant monologue of Thai as you walk around (clearly they didn't spend the extra charge for foreigners on a translation).
Interesting for Thais only
