The clock tower in Chiang Rai city center (?) Golden by day and beautifully lit by night. Enjoy the scenery from local restaurants across the streets.

Don’t really get what all the fuss is about here. If you’ve checked out other northern Thai architecture this is pretty much there with some added bling. It’s a clock in the middle of a roundabout, and that’s about it. Also, my Christmas tree was...More

IF you ever wanted an attraction to typify much that is Thai then the gold-coloured clock tower in Chiang Rai does so to a T. For a start, it is set in the middle of a truly chaotic traffic junction -- I've seen traffic meeting...More

I will certainly forget this clock soon but it was a nice thing to see though! My wife was more impressed by me with all the colours, gold and glitterings, which reminded her of the austrian painter Gustave Klimt.

The tower is really not much of a big deal. If it were in Bangkok for example, hardly anyone would bother visiting it. The street it is in is crowded and chaotic, and it looks better in photos.

We sat at a bar/cafe for a beer to watch the changing lights - just beautiful. Apparently there is usually a tune to accompany lights that is not currently working. Never mind - the lights were beautiful.

I think this is the most ornate and beautiful clock tower I have ever seen. We watched as the colours changed. If you are in the area, it is well worth seeing.

not really a place for a full on visit but a great photo opp if you are nearby and a good point of where you are if you are on a wander around town

The (old) clock tower is very nice and is basically the center of town. Do not miss the evening shows with lights and music.
