First Safari Experience - good introduction

Visited this park in November. Views were breath taking. A lot of bird life seen with other animals.

We were disappointed in this park. We scheduled it only to see the lions that climbed trees that is advertised and promoted everywhere. Our safari guide said that it has become very difficult and rare to spot lions in trees in this park. He said that there was a better chance of seeing that in Tarangire National Park. His words... Lake Manyara National Park was the first place that we visited while on safari with National Geographic Expeditions. This was one of Ernest Hemingway's favorite places in Africa. This park is a forest and it challenges its visitors because the wildlife blends in so well. Our drivers and safari experts were amazing. They spotted both animals and birds with ease... More

Unless you are an avid "birder" or have limited time, this park does not offer a lot of game. Most of the park is covered by an alkaline lake. It is famous for the large flocks of flamingos, which had migrated away as it was their breeding season. It is also famous for the tree-climbing lions, which are not really... More

If you plan a safari in all main Parks of the north of Tanzania, this is not the most interesting one. Yes, there are many wild animals and the vegetation is luxuriant but nothing comparable with the more famous Serengeti, Tarangire or Ngororngoro. If you plan to do only a few days of Safari, you can skip this Park. On... More

A great safari through the forest and along the Lake allowed us to see plenty of animals: flamingo birds, pelicans, eagles, elephants, girafes, hippopotamus, monkeys, babouins and many others. Wonderful show offered by thousand of flamingo birds flying on the lake. A must among the Tanzanian parks.

This was my first visited National Park in Africa. It was a lovely introduction. I didn't see significant amounts of game but the animals I did see were very close and quite happy to continue with their lives right in front of the vehicle. The scenery was lovely to and unexpected - I didn't realise it would be so green... More

This was the last park after a full 10 day safari. In terms of sightings it was the poorest mostly because the huge trees obscure all the animals. Mara and Serengeti are grasslands. This is a forest. So while the safari experience was pleasant with the trees providing shade and it having a jungle feel, the animals we spotted were few and far between.... This was the first stop on our Safari. Very nice place. Easy to drive around. Got up close and personnel with some Elephants including little baby elephants. Saw lots of baboons, Giraffes, Hippos, beautiful birds, Buffalo and more. Scenery is stunning.
