This lovely old clock tower is visible from outside Galle Fort. It is a great landmark and near the old guardrooms. This and the old lighthouse are probably the two most famous structures in Galle Fort. It was built by the Galle people in memory of a Dr Peter Daniel Anthonisz who was a surgeon in colonial times.

The fort was first built bu Dutch who ruled the coastal area of Sri Lanka in 17 th century . Then the fort was maintained by British. The clock tower has a big history of centuries.

As with the lighthouse this is another well preserved building but nothing to write home about. When here you should go see it (mostly to get up and enjoy the view).

This is also another landmark of Galle Fort which is very much visible from the main road due to its height

Useful landmark at Galle Fort, but not much more to get excited about. If I'm not mistaken, the clock was showing the incorrect time when I visited!

For those seeking the Fort you simply have to lookout for the clock tower which seems in great condition.

The Clock Tower is located just within the walls of Galle Fort overlooking the new town and the International Cricket Ground. This landmark is some four storeys high but one can't go inside. There are statues around the base and it sets a historic scene for the east of the old town. Very busy with tourists as a popular focus.
