The Empire State Plaza is just plain impressive, The architecture is very interesting especially "The Egg". This theatre complex offers a sharp contrast to the other building because of its horizontal orientation and shape. After walking around the plaza go down one level and explore...More

May think you’ve stumbled onto the set of 2001 Space Odyssey when you see these huge monoliths standing in a row which make the Albany skyline unique. It is interesting to explore the adjoining plazas.

Somehow the lineup of state office buildings along a narrow reflecting pond didn't hit me as all that scenic. People were relaxing around the place on a Sunday afternoon in August, but the surface of the floor isn't that pretty and it just doesn't inspire.

The Empire Plaza is a beautiful attraction in Albany due to free concerts, and plaza events and festivals throughout the summer. In the winter, there is ice skating.

Differing genres of architecture. Quite modern in part. However, looking down the mall towards the State Capitol building, you will find that some of this architecture obscures the lovely old building!! (Did no-one notice?) The underground mall is quite empty and eerie. Especially in the...More

We stopped here on a Saturday around 5 p.m. If you're into architecture, there's a variety of styles. The NY State Capitol is a gorgeous building that people can actually visit and take tours in (except weekends and holidays). The There is the Corning Tower,...More

If you're not from the area, this is definitely a place worth stopping. It's near the museum as well as the Capitol. Either way, it's a nice place to stop and visit on a good weather day.

Unusual architecture featuring "The Egg" - used for performances. The underground portion is apparently used for a variety of public events. It also lets you escape from cold and windy weather!
