Built before the American Revolution, the elegant home of General Philip Schuyler is one of the most outstanding examples of pre-war architecture. During the season, experience a guided-tour of the home from knowledgeable staff who will tell you the history of the home and the Schuyler family that lived there - Philip and Catharine Van Rensselaer Schuyler, and their eight children. Second daughter Elizabeth Schuyler married Alexander Hamilton in the museum's front parlor in 1780. Tours are offered on the hour. Please call in advance of your tour, as pre-scheduled groups and events will alter the tour schedule. Site is CLOSED yearly from October 31st until mid-May, excepting special events.

Took the tour that highlighted the sisters. Docent was so detailed. Don't know what the other tours are like. One features Hamilton. You need to,reserve your spot usually in advance.

It's kind of perfect inside- faithfully restored but not "improved." You get a real sense for what daily life was like inside the mansion. Our tour guide (Ian) was incredibly well-informed. Not only deep knowledge about all aspects of the house, the family and the...More

Really disappointed with the service here: waited at the desk for 20 minutes to be told we couldn't pay on card. By that point we weren't able to get cash out at an ATM before the tour so really felt let-down. No apologies from member...More

Our young female guide had brushed up on her history and gave a very nice presentation of the house and the Schuyler family. Having lived in the area for 40+ years, it was a pleasure to see local history presented so well. The Hamilton connection...More

The tour guides are knowledgeable and interesting. The house itself is beautiful, and historically significant. We enjoyed the tour and will be back for the sequel. Work!

One hour docent tour of this mansion. Docent was great - she knew a lot about the Schuylers and related history. The tour is as interesting as you want to make it as well - asking questions for additional information. Yes - as other people...More

As a fan of Hamilton the musical, I was initially drawn to the site because of its connection to the show. While the tour includes information of interest to fans, it goes far beyond that. The visitor center and home tour include a wide range...More

Appropriate period information . Visitor center displays held interest of children but guided tour contained too much information. Long time to stand! Tours available on the hour. Must ring doorbell to enter visitor center.

Thank you for your comments. We find them very valuable. To help us better our programming for children - were you on a general tour, or one of our focus tours?

We visited Schuyler Mansion to add to our "collection" of historic home tours, and because of our kids' love of the Hamilton musical. Compared with other home tours we've done, this one is average. The artifacts are mostly reproductions or objects that are period-appropriate rather...More
