Avalanche lake is a 12-mile round trip from the parking lot. The going is very easy until you reach a creek bed, then you better hope it didn't rain the night before. This is a very beautiful mountain lake hemmed in by Mt. Colden and Avalanche Mtn. There are several ways to get to it but one is at the end of a long slog up Misery Hill.
