Tunnels of Safed
Apr 2021 • Friends
At the visitors center you can experience and learn about the history of Safed by walking through the rooms that were discovered right under the center. The story is fascinating and a must do while in Safed.

Must see
Feb 2020 • Friends
This is located conveniently in the main arts alleyway. You can walk down to an old house which has a natural mikve. Very nice to see how people used to live and is a change from the usual shops.

Underground tour was fascinating!
Jun 2019
You can buy tickets to take an underground tunnel tour that traverses much of the street and exits at an excavation area that is ongoing. The excavation area is currently unearthing and restoring an old Tzfat house that existed during British Mandate times and perhaps earlier. In the tunnels themselves, there are antiquities that were unearthed that were far older...there were even some Roman remains. Pretty interesting

Tour of Tunnels and Challah baking
Dec 2019 • Family
We met our tour guide Yifat here. She took us next door and gave us the short and interesting history of the city and the underground tunnels. Then we walked through the tunnels to the mikveh and ancient ovens. They have retrofitted the ovens with gas now and we were able to make Challot and bake them in the ancient ovens. It was a cool activity for us but the challahs took a while to bake. I almost wish we could’ve left and walked around the town while they were baking so we could’ve done some more shopping in the many cool galleries. We probably could have, I just didn’t think of it because we didn’t realize how long the baking would take.

Nice place to start touring Tzfat
Jun 2019 • Solo
This is the Livnot U'lehibanot location where you can get information about Tzfat and volunteering opportunities, but you can also pay to see the underground tunnels and excavations below part of the Old City and in it. Really an interesting experience.

Beyond cheap souvenirs
May 2018 • Friends
This lovely town in the Galilee region is home to numerous fine art and high quality crafts. Beautiful painting, sculpture, jewelry and religious arts ( Judaica ) can be found there. We were on a tour so I felt there wasn’t enough time to properly shop. I’d like to return there with a lot more shekels I’m my pocket!

When we came to the visitor's center, we were surprised that we had arrived. It just seemed like another shop to us.
