We saw on the news on TV a piece about the local vegetable and fruit market in Safed and the Kadosh cheese factory. At the cheese factory to tried a variety of cheese, olives and Halvah. We bought brie, picorino, Gorgonzola, salty white cheese and many more.

We entered and the proprietor immediately gave us samples of the cheeses. There was a good variety and each was unusual and good. There were also olives and halvah, also delicious. We were pleased with our purchases and the fact that this was a tiny gem. We saw others there who were having a more structured visit at a table with cheese and wine. Also an option We’d go back the next time here.

My first time at a cheese factory. I thought I would see how the cheese was made. Instead, they had many different types of cheese, all available for tasting and then potentially buying.

Back after some years, we have found the diary just as it was last time, that is family-run, same people, same place, same cheese. Probably not too much has changed since 1818 that the owners claim as their establishment date. All cheese on offer (about 10 types) are of very high quality and come at more or less market price, all homemade to traditional recipes and knowhow. Tasting is offered and highly recommended to pick just the one you like. The guy selling the cheese is a bit too pushy but if you know how to handle that, you may end up with excellent cheeses at some discount (but don't bet on that too much).
