Regardless of the actual place Mary lived, she must have used this well to get water, as it was the only one in the vicinity. It still runs to this day. There are vendors outside selling empty containers so you can fill them on your own with the precious water. Another church built on a holy place.

The well is turned off off season but you go inside the church to the original source of the water and fill your little bottles.

This site is modern and certanly not approaching 2000 years old. Our Guide said he didn't believe there was any evidence tying this to Mary!

The atmosphere of the church is pleasant- even with lots of visitors there is also peace in the place. It was a unique feature of the town with many things to photograph and enjoy

Such a lovely sight. You will see many locals hanging about and just a little further up is the breathtaking Christmas tree. When asking for directions, most people will refer to the well and plenty of restaurants surrounding the area.

it doesn't have water running, but ay way it is the symbol of Nazareth and worth visiting the small site. My mother used to go there to collect water for the homus when she was young girl

Mary's well, according to Greek Orthodox this is the site where the Angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and announced that she would bear the Son of God. Simple. According to the Roman Catholic's, it is believed that the Angel Gabriel appeared over the site of the Basilica of the Annunication. Elaborate. You decide.

Bearing in mind the history beneath this plain building, that is it is presumed that Our Lady would have gone there to collect water and Jesus could have also been there. You could pass this building and mistake it for a bus shelter. Such a shame that it isn't made into a feature.

A fair monument, nicely cleaned up some years ago. It is dry now and not that interesting. In truth it is a later outlet, built to stop people going into. St. Gabriel's church to fetch water. It is worth going up the road a little way to the. Church to see the original site of the well.

Thank James H
