A must visit when at the Meenakshi Amman Temple... Most pilgrims give this place a miss, but each of the pillars have a story to tell. Amazing place.

This mantapam, located inside the Meenakshi Temple complex, also serves as a museum. It has a large number of monolithic columns supporting the roof, each one is different from the others. A large statue of Nataraja is at one end of the mantapam. There are several paintings from the 14th and 15th century.

Every one has to see who visits Amman Temple. It is inside the temple. When we made pradakshna it is at lest side. better to take guidance from temple team.

A great place to see in close proximity and even touch the wonderful stone carvings and pillars . Some sections of this Museum lack proper maintenance.

It is actually the master piece of the previous civil engineering as all pillars are located both in straight and diagonal without any deviation. Really fantastic and marvelous. Nobody can imagine how it was located during past years without any latest technology. Very very high engineering skill.

The meenakshi temple in total has 1000 pillars. 984 of which are located in one place. This immaculately maintained place used to be the arts centre when the kings ruled this place. One can also experience the musical pillars. Pillars carved out of stone, when tapped produces the 7 musical notes. An architectural masterpiece. The statues carved out of granite... More

Must see place. Architectural wonder. At-least visit once in your lifetime. It reminds us of How great builders we were once ! Don't just rush after seeing the goddess, spend some quality time here exploring the Pillars. You will not regret it.

One of the oldest and historic places in this city of Madurai, This aiyiram kaal mandapam as the name itself tells is a big mandapam of one thousand pillars built by the kings of the ancient times. Ancient and historical place to see when in Madurai.
