A two hour drive out of udaipur to see his amazing fort and the nearby Ranakpur temple was one of our best day trips. The fort itself is huge and has wonderful views. The complex houses many beautiful temples and the second longest wall in the world. Got some amazing photos.

Tickets for this show are Rs 100 person. One sits on benches in open air near the Mahadev Temple. We went there on 21 Feb 2017. Show started after sunset at 7pm. In an attempt to revive, enliven and highlight the glorious history of the days gone by, RTDC has recently started an awe-inspiring Sound and Light show at the... More

A must visit to the fort. Try going around 4.30-5 pm to scale the fort and than enjoy sunset from the top most point in the fort. Recommend to take a guide to know the history (local guide would charge 350 Rs) post sunset enjoy the light and sound show (there was a problem in rains due o which the... More

There's no doubt Kumbalgharh fort is a hugely impressive construction. 36km of walls covering14km2. Of course you have to climb up to the top of the fort, but with largely empty rooms, apart from some elephant frescoes, it's not a hugely rewarding experience. The view is commanding and the highest structure, the Badal Mahal means Cloud Palace. Even when it's... More

Interestingly, the name comes from the root word ‘Kumbh’ in Sanskrit, which means ‘clay pot’; because of its architectural style (see featured image from last blog how it looks from a distance, that clay-pot structure which is supporting these walls). Just to refresh your memory, this fort never fell to any of the attackers & hosts the longest wall in... More

This fort is nearby day activity from Udaipur and Jodhpur. From udaipur it is nearly 80 Kms and 3.5 hrs drive. It is important historical place in mewar region. Its a very huge fort. Since it is situated on the hills, it offers a very good view of the nearby area but requires tiresome climbing and stairs. Jungle safari is... More

Take the help of an authorised guide to understand the history properly. Do not miss the sound and light show where they explain the history using lights music etc. Ideal time to visit is 4 pm to 7 pm so you can peacefully see the fort in 2 hrs and attend the sound and light show.

We were driving down to Kumbhalgarh from Jodhpur, via Ranakpur. Google maps goofed-up & we reached the Kumbhalgarh fort much later than expected in our tight itinerary :( We were really keen to see this fort with a guide, but alas couldn't due to paucity of time. We purchased the fort-entrance tickets as well as the light & sound show... More
