If you are in love with nature, you will not be disappointed to visit this place. You can either take a boat ride through the lake or can trek through the jungle or can take a jeep safari. The only caution is, tiger is hardly ever seen.

One of the best conservation oriented parks in india with limited entry and scientific strategy. Please try eco tourism programmes as the guides will give you every details of this park.

As one of the biggest wildife parks in india , only a limited area is allowed for tourism .Even though its a tiger park , elephants are abundant along with sambar deer , bison , wild dog and giant squirrel.

The highlight of the Periyar National Park is the boating on the lake with wildlife to be discovered on the banks on both sides. Well, the boat ride disappoints as there are very few animal sightings, and they are very far away, so you might as well remember to carry your binoculars. To reach the boating point, there is a... great to enjoy a green lung of South India, away from busy cities. If you go with no expectations of seeing tigers there is an abundance of wildlife - birds, deer, monkeys. There are also various ways to enjoy the area -boat trips, bamboo rafting, jungle patrols & nature walks

We went to Thekkedy & visited Periyar National Park . It was long walk through forest but being with nature was real thrill. The boat trip was restful and informative with lots of birdlife. We had hoped for elephants or even big cats, but were not lucky enough.

A small group with our tour guide plus national park guides completed an 8 k walk in the afternoon, this was a challenge, but we did find a family group of elephants, many Asian bison, monkeys, giant squirrels, numerous birds including our first ever sight of a toucan, we were all of pension age & very much appreciate the kindliness... If you're tired of city lifestyle and want to getaway to real nature it's a perfect destination. Can experience green landscape and mountain, wildlife, waterfall and mind blowing scenery of god creations. Approximate expenses would be 35 to 40$.

Gate 1 offered a 3 hour guided trek of 5-6 kilometers through the park; it turned into 2 hours and maybe 3 kilometers at a slow pace. the first half of the stroll oversaw the lake overlooking the same area we had previously enjoed by boat. In the forest edge area we continued to look at birds and monkeys and... More

Well we had a great expectation while we planned to visit the park. Especially the kids were very excited about the boat ride which is one and only attraction at this place apart from a cool and calm walk inside the park. We managed to get the entrance ticket for us and the vehicle parking in the park after being... More
