The palace used to be a property of His Highness Gaikwad. Its now been maintained and secured by Indian Air Force. They have there Unit Administrative Building. The building is timely given wear and tear to keep it exactly the same way it is suppose to be. Been around the palace and its a charm of art.

This palace now houses the offices of the Indian Air Force and entry of public is restricted. The structure is highly impressive.

As Vadas Codara wapital of Gayekwad Rulers, there are so many Palaces in Vadodara beacause they were big and rich ruler also. Makarpura Palace was built by Maharaja Khande Rao in 1870 and further renovated by Maharaha sayajirao-3.
