Three of us booked a trip to Dakar in Senegal with Black and White tours. What an amazing and memorable trip it was. Lamin took great care of us, was the most faultless and attentive guide and nothing was too much trouble. Also not forgetting Ibrahim our driver, who did a fantastic job.

As others have mentioned the ferry crossing is a different experience which we really enjoyed especially on the way back!!

Lastly I cannot forget to mention Armstrong who organised the trip. Thank you so much to you and your team for your professionalism and leaving us with an unforgettable memory of our excursion.

I would definitely recommend and use Black and White tours again the future, well done!!!

Wow what an experience! The ferry across the river was experiencing maintenance difficulties and wasn’t running on the day we did this trip (April 3rd). This was completely out of the hands of the B&W team, but as in any service industry, it’s how you deal with problems that sets you aside. Our guide, Lamin (ask for him if you book and you won’t be dissatisfied), found us a local pirogue boat and with a shoulder ride to remember we were aboard without getting wet. After a short drive to the boarder we were on route to Fathala Reserve where we saw Rhino, Giraffe, Warthog, Monkey plus much more. Lunch on the way back was included in the price and the local Chicken Yassa didn’t disappoint. Thank you Armstrong and Lamin for a brilliant, unforgettable experience.

Myself and my girlfriend went on the cooking tour. It was amazing we saw a traditional Gambian Compound, went to the market to buy fresh food and fish then we returned to the compound to cook two complete meals that would feed 30 people. Being in the open air, seeing the young children and helping with the cooking was delightful.

Wow! What an amazing day ! We booked with Black and White Safari located on the strip. We were a group of 4 ladies aged between 20s to 60s. Two with mobility issues.
As a child I remember watching the series Roots on the telly and then reading the book. An awful time in history. We learn from history not erase it.
We were picked up promptly from our hotel by a friendly guide from Black and White Safari who shared lots of information on places we passed as we travelled to the port.
The ferry journey is an experience not to be missed. It’s a colourful game of Testris as they fit onto the ferry the cars, lorries, buses, goats, carts, poultry and hundreds of local people selling their wares. All this can be watched from the safety of a seat above deck. You do wonder about health and safety as late comers are jumping onto ferry as it moves off!
We were met at other side in Barra by another driver and our Roots journey began where we were also joined by a local guide. We visited the remains of San Domingo fort, the slavery museum and had short boat ride across to Kunte Kunte Island where slaves were kept.
Food was given in local restaurant. Cold drinks were provided throughout the day. We were well looked after and felt safe.
Great day with a brilliant tour company. Black and White safari looked after us from start to finish. Highly recommend.

We did two tours with Black and White- the 7-in1 safari and the Fathala Reserve.
Firstly the 7-in-1 which we had the Incredible Fanta guiding us and the wonderful Bax driving us. We visited so many incredible places, where we were fortunate enough to see how Gambians really live. It was a truly humbling experience and we feel really lucky to have seen it for ourselves. If you book this excursion, try and book it on a Sunday! This way when you visit Paradise (Sanyang) beach, you'll be able to watch the cultural wrestling! The trip was well organised and flexible
A special shout out to Fanta who was so confident and knowledgeable. You are really talented Fanta!

Next trip was to Fathala with the lovely Joe who is one of the kindest.people I've met. He looked after us all day long. There was a ferry delay (not his fault at all) and he made sure we were looked after and checking in. He was so knowledgeable on the area and answering our questions, and was so great to learn about his family. Both my husband and I absolutely loved the safari, and to be honest the journey to Fathala is worth it alone just for the experience! Go with open eyes and and remember you're in Africa where things are different here- embrace the experience.

Armstrong who runs the company was excellent in communication. I booked the trips last year and he had touched base with me regularly and met us on arrival in Gambia, welcomed us and ran us through the process. It was professional but also very friendly.

I would recommend anyone to book a tour with these guys. You made our holiday in Gambia incredible!

We spent total 8 days with Lamin and Bernard, first 3 days all over Gambia, and then 4 days in south Senegal, and Kunta Kinteh island for one day.
In Gambia we saw many animals, including hundreds of birds, hippoes, dolphins and chimpanzees. We visited remote villages, and the kids were happy to receive toys we had brought from home for them. We took boat rides and saw a lot of local life and nature.
In south Senegal we visited both Cap Skirring and Kafountine, interesting and beautiful places! Lamin and Bernard really made us feel safe at all times, everywhere! So it was the best way to really experience western Africa.
If you book with B&W safari, you will get good service and will feel safe. So you can concentrate in experiencing and enjoying your holiday. I love photographing, so these trips with them were excellent opportunities to enjoy my hobby. See the pictures!
Just remember, this is real Africa, sometimes things happen. We had a small problem with our car, but it was interesting to visit a garage and see how the problem got fixed. No biggie. Also, in south Senegal the roads are not that good, so keep that in mind if you don't like potholes 😁.
Either way, if you want to experience Gambia with a local company, go with Black and White Safari, HIGHLY recommended and you will be happy you chose them over the not-gambian companies.
