We were not fully informed or properly equipped when we set out on the journey to Mount Sinai and it was a blessing in disguise because we might have opted out. It was tiring and a bit of a struggle to get to the top but it was well worth the hike when you see the sunrise in the early... More

When and if you are able, go hike Mt. Sinai. They do offer camel ride until certain point, but after that, you are on your own. Depends on your convinience, the camel ride can either hurt you or make you sleepy on the way up. The hike itself takes about an hour. Be sure to start from the bottom from... More

The camel ride up was slow and barely comfortable because there were no stirrups. The next day, one would surely experience sore hamstrings. The slope to camel station mid-way was a gradual and moderate climb. A reasonably fit person would accomplish in slightly over an hour. The next 750+ steps from the camel station were steep and irregular. It may... More

This is an epic mountain range all what is around saint Cathrine, mount Sinai which is mostly famous as Moses mountain is considered the tallest peak after cathrina mountain but I think it is the 5th as it is 2285m, bare in mind that the town of Saint Cathrine is already 1586m. There is two way up to the mountain... More

Those into religion, or history, would appreciate being present in the mountain ... It gives you a glimpse of the journey of Prophet Mousa ( Moses ) peace be upon him. Those loving nature would definitely enjoy themselves there, whether climbing the mountain or enjoying the scenery from high above ... The best time to visit is just before sunrise,... More

Find a Bedouin guide; take a camel trip; listen to the incredible history of this place. The mythology is deep: Moses, burning bushes, stone tablets, etc. Sacred to three religions: preserved by the early Christians, now preserved by the Muslims, part of the Jewish heritage. It's a vertical desert. How the Bedouins find water is fascinating. Go to the Bedouin... More

There's a number of ways of planning your journey to mount Sinai. My preferred itinerary is starting by visiting St Catherine's monastery then start your climb up so that you reach the top in time to see the sunset from the top and savour the spot where God spoke to Moses and gave him the Ten Commandments. You can then... More

This is not a trip unless you are physically fit. I thought I was, but this involves steep inclines, in the pitch dark (be sure to bring a flashlight, which I luckily had), and rocky terrain with nothing to hold on to but your guide. It is advertised to take 3 hours to the top, but I couldn't have done... More

Started at 0100 to arrive to see the sunrise. We arrived at a number of businesses renting blankets, selling hot drinks and cola's. The sunrise was worth the journey. Be careful numerous people slid down, saw people with twisted ankles walking/limping down. A must see.
