The walk to Tortuga Bay was a bit long and hot, but relatively easy. The sight of the ocean and walking the stretch of beach to Tortuga Bay was totally worth it. I think its one of the top 2 or 3 beaches in the world, and lives up to the reputation!

Plan ahead, lather on the sunscreen, and take the long walk to Tortuga Bay beach. It's a joy! First, the beautiful beach is wide and uncrowded. The water is warm and you can swim for hours! Then take a right (as you face the beach) and walk to the far end, where folks are snorkeling in the quieter water. We... More

Saw sharks, iguanas, fish, and turtle nests. The sand was powder soft. Great surfing. Calm bay as well. If there is no wind, then bring bug repellent. Bike to the entrance, then 25 minute walk. Cacti and birds along the walk. Concrete path. No modern services.

it went w our kids and it was a long grueling hike. my kids are 7, 9 and 16. we left early in the morning so it wasn't as bad but the way back was a killer. we considered taking the water taxi back but didn't and then regretted it. if you have kids, consider returning on the water taxi.... More

Tortuga Bay is 1.5 km on a brick path to a beach that the current is too aggressive for people to swim in. Then you walk another 1.5 km on the beach sand to get to a second and third beach that you can swim at. The second beach is a nice little "kiddie" sitting pool area in between two... More

A taxi can take you to the start of the path to this beach, which is probably a 1.5 mile walk. There are no facilities so bring LOTS of water. As you enter the beach area, if you want to snorkel, take a right and walk the the first bunch of trees, probably a bit more than 1/4 mile. Take... More

Beautiful 500 meter beach with good surfing on the left side. Some local surfboard rentals at the beach (best to pre-arrange with Surf Club in Puerto Ayora before). Walk to the opposite end of the beach and cross to a beautiful protected lagoon with white sand beach. Kayaks may be available. Ferry comes and goes from lagoon ($10 each way).

The beach seems pretty much the same as any other beach but the animals are not. The birds you see are all different, the iguana sunning themselves on the black rocks. A nice spot to swim and the sand fells so soft under your feet. It's quite a walk to reach the beach ...about 20 min about 1 km.

Breathtaking views of a vast and pristine beach! Words don't give this beach justice to describe its beauty! Only caveat, you need to walk about 30 minutes to get there on a paved and hilly road. But is totally worth it! bring lots of water, and snacks because is a virgin beach, so no food or drinks sold. Actually, there... More

Tortuga Bay is worth visiting! You can walk there (long walk) from downtown Puerto Ayora, and it's definitely worth it. Beautiful white sand beach, great to spot marine iguanas. Make sure you walk to the mangrove beach right next to it.
