This site honors and remembers a significant event in history. Good on you Pope John Paul. You made a big impact.

Bit if a windy road and a few stairs but well worth the visit to look over the city from the statue.

It's about 100-150 steps to the statue. Steep steps. Best time would be in the morning else gets very hot. Very impressive statue.

This tourist feature consists of a statue and a toilet. The toilet is the better of the two, simply because there are very few public facilities for travellers in East Timor. The size of the statue is impressive and is cleverly positioned to be visible...More

This is not just a place for Roman Catholics. The statue is a work of art, and the location is good, with views of the sea and surrounding countryside.

If you are on a tour and going past, then drop in and have a look. But do not go out of your way to visit this stature. Saying this the stature does have significant meaning to the Timor-Leste people.

The people of Timor-Leste are very proud that the pope had visited their country and are proud of this statue. I couldn't quite see the likeness of JP2 but I got the importance. The view is very nice.
