In the day it’s ok
Oct 2021 • Friends
During the day it’s pretty to look at. Make sure to bring a jacket for October weather and because it’s on the beach. Lots of open stores and a good walk to each casino. During the evening it was colder but looked sketchy. Didn’t see a police presence and looked like some unsavory characters everywhere. Stay inside during evening.

How can you visit Atlantic City without a stop to the iconic boardwalk? I would recommend a few hours here to anyone visiting.

If you can't find something to do here you're probably looking for a trip to the mountains. It has food, entertainment, ferris wheel, a shuttle from one end to close to the other end and all the tourist shops you can imagine. You can even get walk up adult beverages. Bikes are limited to certain times so be prepared for that. The ocean air always does wonders for this Midwesterner.

Both the best and worst thing about Atlantic City
Oct 2021
The Atlantic City Boardwalk is both the best and worst thing about Atlantic City. It is dirty, disgusting and horrible for sure... lined with tacky shops, and failed defunct businesses... BUT, if you go to AC and stay at any of the properties along the boardwalk, it is the BEST way to get around the city. Consider your options... if you were staying at Caesars, you could walk (or better yet, ride a bike) all the way around to Gardner's Basin in the relative safety of the boardwalk, where you would only get hassled about 10x for money by scumbags and dirtballs. Alternatively, you could walk up Atlantic Avenue where you would DEFINITELY get robbed and or murdered. The choice is clear... the boardwalk sucks, but you cannot have AC without it.

Dirty and Horrible
Sep 2021
It has been quite a few years since we have visited Atlantic City. The Hard Rock Casino was good, but the boardwalk was HORRIBLE!! It was dirty, full of "questionable" people and offered very little other than bad food and souvenir shops. The Steel Pier looked like a rundown and dirty carnival. We will not be returning.

Quite a disappointment.

We were told that things weren't really good for a few years before Covid 19 hit but lots of businesses went down because of Covid. It's sad to see the decline. There are only 9 casinos left in AC.

Horrible place
Sep 2021 • Couples
This was my first time to AC, I will never visit again. The boardwalk was disgusting, homeless people everywhere, people always wanting money, marijuana smell everywhere, Asian women harassing you to sit for massage, and hood rats hanging around playing loud annoying music. I never seen any police the whole time I was there, just hotel security. I felt unsafe after dark and refused to leave hotel.

ACNJ BOARDWALK IS WHAT IT IS
Sep 2021 • Couples
Been coming down to ACNJ for over 40 years. 1st time was with my parents when I was a child. It has always had a seedy atmosphere, but it’s gotten worse in the last decade. Nowadays, hubby and I have stuck to the north end of the boardwalk and for the last several visits haven’t ventured past Hard Rock. Unfortunately, we did walk past last night. We won’t be doing that again. To be fair it was a Saturday night in September while it’s still warm so there were people everywhere (probably a good thing to have witnesses around.) Not only were the crowds on the boardwalk but every casino was packed. The crowds really didn’t bother us, because most people respected our space. It’s the people who came up to us and asked for money that really made us sick. Happened several times. Add that to the overwhelming odor of marijuana which permeates the entire area, the homeless living everywhere, the obvious drug abusers and alcoholics passed out, and it’s enough to make you say adios AC!I don’t expect there to be law enforcement officers on every corner, because that’s unrealistic. I’m sure they’re understaffed and overwhelmed dealing with all the crime occurring off the boardwalk. The police sirens wailing all evening long gave that fact away. If you’re looking to do a little gambling, have dinner and some drinks, go to a club, or take in a show, go for it, but be prepared to encounter some unsavory elements if you venture out of your casino/hotel onto that boardwalk. Don’t say you weren’t warned. It’s just the reality of AC. What the boardwalk really needs is for someone to pour gasoline down the entire length, then light a match. It would be an improvement! If we go back we’ll be staying at a hotel in the bay! Never ever again will we step foot on that boardwalk unless it gets a major makeover with the problems removed!

Round up the drug addicts . Round up the street crawlers. Nasty trash people. Woman look like hookers whose fat was oozing out from all sides. People begging for money and low life scum bags are stumbling around. Never again will I go to that scum city again.

We were vacationing in Seaside Heights, NJ over the weekend. Decided to spend an afternoon in Atlantic city. We have never been and heard good things. Started at Ceasars and walked to the boardwalk. We went in the off season but man was it rough. The boardwalk itself was dirty, buildings falling apart, people selling/panhandling, and just over all not good. Shops were basic and the food was typical carnival food. Even apart of the boardwalk itself was broken. It got worse when the sun started to go down. I'm thankful it was just an afternoon (mostly in the casinos) and I didnt plan a whole vacation here. I also couldn't imagine bring children here. It's like the worst parts of Las Vegas and the worst parts of a beach town mixed together.

Disgusting, dirty beach with homeless people and drug addicts sleeping on the boardwalk at night.
Sep 2021 • Friends
Disgusting, dirty, so many people smoking dope on the boardwalk, homeless people laying on the boardwalk at night, panhandling is ridiculous and the boardwalk is extremely filthy. The sand on the beach looks black with cigarette butts and trash all over the beach. Homeless people living under the boardwalk. The people who live here need to be eradicated. Boardwalk is NOT safe at night. I do not recommend this place to anyone who is considering spending time or vacationing here. Go 2 hours south to Ocean City, Maryland!
