In the top 5 for Santa Marta. Someone said in another review that Santa Marta is a "scruffy " city. I would agree with this and this makes Quinta well worth the visit. Beautiful grounds and a nice mix of history and nature. My husband...More

Went at the weekend and the art museum area all closed. Botanical gardens are a complete rundown mess - nothing worth looking at - not irrigated and completely neglected. Absolutely terrible. That only leaves a very small area to look around and certainly not worth...More

Walked here from our hotel. Quite interesting place. Good gardens with very big iguanas. Simon Bolivar is everywhere and this is the place where he died.

Great spot to wander around and cheap for entrance fee. Drought conditions when we were there, so ponds, botanical gardens dry, but pleasant to walk around, with some beautiful, incredibly old trees. This hacienda, where Simon Bilivar died, has some interesting parts, from statues to...More

A shrine to Simon Bolivar who spent his last days before dying of TB here. Nice historic house in lovely grounds, and a hall to honour the man similar to the Lincoln memorial in Washington DC.

Bolivar's last residence before passing offers a glimpse at his life and legacy. The home itself and the gardens are enjoyable. Don't forget to visit the museum where you can find the work of local artists amongst others. Don't forget to bring a hat if...More

easy cab ride from Santa Marta. Clean with amazing Ficus trees. The patriotic altar impressive and the hacienda very authentic. Botanic gardens a work in progress but interesting. Many huge iguanas made for comic relief. The art museum had some interesting pieces. Good for history...More

It's a museum and art gallery mate. If you are looking for a good hostel that is fairly close to this place then try the Drop Bear Hostel. It is a good hostel, great staff and good location. The owner Gabriel will give you... More
