Though awkwardly named, this is a good place to see a range of pandas at one place - with young adolescent pandas to mature ones. Going early (by 9.30am) is good because the pandas are more active and fun to watch

We had 6 hours ahead of us to visit Giant Panda Breeding Research Base. It took us almost 50 minutes from our hotel in the center of Chengdu. The park was very well organised, clean, it had maps etc. There was also a small vehicle...More

Amazing day, guide was brilliant, Pandas were incredible, feeding, washing and cleaning their pens. Got to feed the Pandas twice and were able to see them up close, much closer than normal visitors.

We so enjoyed this day...so many cute pandas! All ages and all active (well, as active as they can be). Just wish we could have taken one home.

Need to arrive early to beat the crowds. Is a large zoological park with multiple well designed enclosures so need to allow 3-4 hours really. Cannot get as near to the Pandas as I had anticipated but really enjoyable experience. Refreshments and good lunch spot...More

The Giant Panda Breeding and Research Base provides a glimpse into the work of maintaining both the giant and the red panda’s. Depending on the programme there is a mixture of adult and baby pandas to observe. The young ones at play and climbing trees...More

Let's be honest, this is why you most likely came here. My advice, you don't need a tour. It's time limiting, and not really worth getting a guide. Just make your way here and expect to spend 4+ hours here.

We took the subway (line 3) there to Panda Ave where there was a free shuttle to the Research Base. They'll sell you park tickets on the bus but you'll need to stop by the kiosk right near where you get off the bus to...More

I'm not surprised that such question is from India. Have you ever tried to store your bagges in the the Taj Mahal? :-)

Hi Scott. Thinking about making a trip to Chengdu China to see the pandas, however, we were given high $$$ for tour or even just transportation. You mentioned that you caught a taxi from your hotel in Chengdu for $60rmb one way - is that right? And on the way back, did you have any issues from taxi drivers who want to jack up the fare back to the city? In regards to the tickets, did you purchase there upon arrival or ahead of time. We would like to hold and take a photo with the pandas, did you do that and do we need to make arrangements ahead of time prior to arrival (possible some special package). Sorry for all the questions. Thanks.

I visited in October 2016. I took a taxi from my central hotel, very cheap i remember. I simply bought a ticket at the front gate - no problems. You cannot hold the pandas anymore due to them getting diseases from us... More

HI - i will be visiting in 4 days. Do I need to book in advance or can i show up and buy tickets on site? Are there many panda's to see , and do we see them close up? So many tours out there charging a fortune to feed and take photo's with panda's, so it is hard to know which place is best. All help is appreciated! Thanks

there were many pandas to see , inc babies, but you walk around the area much like a zoo where the pandas are in their enclosure, so you cannot get too close. We took many photos of them eating, playing together or being fed... More
