Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice open area to view the ocean and the high rise buildings. In the evening the buildings are lit up and a lot of people gather to see it.

We enjoyed the proximity to the bay and the night time view of the square. This area is very easy to get to by metro (May Fourth Square station) and you can see the Qingdao International Sailing Center nearby.

The area is quite walkable and there are many small vendors selling knick knacks nearby. There are Olympics plaques along the boardwalk as well and a music square nearby.

Very striking and very beautiful. As you can see we did the typical couples pictures. It’s also next to the sea front so a double whammy. People flying kites and playing frisbee gives the surrounding a nice feel.

I guess I expected some signage or something indicating where I was and its significance. Nada. It’s pretty to look at and there’s a restaurant called The Diner nearby that made the trip worthwhile. Otherwise... 🤷‍♀️

Chinese outrage over this provision ignited mass student demonstrations in Beijing on May 4th, 1919 which resulted in the cultural movement know today as the May Fourth Movement. The May 4th Movement influenced the Chinese delegation not to sign the Treaty of Versailles.

The square didn't seem anything special during the day but it's a totally different story at night. I found this the best light show that I have seen anywhere. It was just incredible with all the buildings in the area lit up with ever changing colors. There were a lot of people but it was manageable. The promenade was active and it was just fun being a part of the city life.

I have to admit to being a little surprised, as this right by the sea, I was expecting it to be more inland. There is a lot of culture and history here, and please, take your time as you walk around to take it all in. There ae some great photograph opportunities as well. The Olympic sailing village is only a short walk away.

Quite nice at night. There is a nice walk along the shoreline and some market stores selling pearls and souvenirs. The best part is looking back towards the city at the light displays of the city buildings. Quite spectacular!!

I think seaside at this spot is not very beautiful. All the Chinese tourists visit there but really nothing to see but people. But you can do some souvenir shopping there.
