We read the reviews and decided to go anyway and were positively surprised by what we saw. The only bad bit was the mammal area which was very smelly and a little dirty. The rest of the exhibits were well maintained and clean and my daughter really enjoyed the experience. We found 3 out of 4 sites, but never found... More

The average Westerner would be appalled by the conditions at the Qingdao Underwater World... So, DON'T be the average Westerner. While not up to the standards of Europe or the United States, this educational experience is probably where the West was in the 1970's. The best thing about visiting is watching the Chinese children and young people looking in awe... More

When we first walked it, it was full of exhibits and models of sea creatures , skeletons, and jars of preserved sea animals. And we almost feared that that was it, so we were relieved when we found the actual start of the aquarium. Overall, we found that it was everything as we had expected. While it was wasn't bad... If you like Marine you will love this Centre. separate exhibits include the underwater walkway, fabulous tower tank, turtles, penguins and sealion enclosure and a fascinating Jelly fish centre in addition to the fossil museum. We were there longer than anticipated as it was all worth a look.

I was really enjoying my visit to the Underwater World. Very tasteful and resourceful. But i feel quite sad for the poor Beluga Whale in its small pool.... this is clearly inhumane :-(

If you go here, expect to be confused with how to navigate the place. I was able to find three of the four buildings but gave up trying to figure out looking for the last one. Other than that, the only thing that really impressed me were the jelly fish and one tank where a sea turtle was actively swimming.... More

Well, in fact it was smaller than it was talked about. The place more for small kids, and mostly it gets kids with all the toy stores and play area. As for underwater creatures, not much. its not really big so don't expect to spend there a day.

We went there, and pretty much walked through the place in under an hour because it was not that interesting, was overcrowded, people pushing everywhere, kids peeing where they shouldn't pee, etc

Good to come with kids, but avoid weekends if you don't like noisy, crowded places. Too much halls with stuffed fishes.

It is a very nice aquarium. I liked the penguins, seals, walruses and particularly the beluga whales performing with the divers underwater. Everything looked clean and the sealife looked very healthy. There were lots of children (it was Children's Day), but it didn't seem overly crowded. We were able to see everything closely.
