The boat was crowded, the tour guide was speaking too loudly through the microphone and was a little deafening. Nothing much to see except walls and houses. BUT keep in mind I am well travelled around China so this isn't especially new to me. You...More

Took a cruise down the Grand Canal with a group of people for a very interesting 45 minute cruise . Passed many very old houses with steps down to the water's edge. Part way we got off the boat and walked through the market area....More

We looked forward to a scenic night river cruise... what you get is a restricted view and a "yelling" tour guide with a PA that is almost but not quite 7 times the required volume. A few minutes of relief were had when the guest...More

We took a comfortable 45 minute boat tour along the canal as part of our Nexus Tour. It was an interesting sight to see these old building right on the river. Worth a visit.

We went for a boat cruise along the canal in the old town and market area. A fantastic couple of hours drifting along looking at the old homes and large variety of architecture in the homes, bridges and the canal infrastructure. The markets were mainly...More

Take a boat trip and enjoy the ancient houses still with the people living there. It tells you the way that people lived and still live near the water. Very old ancient houses still there and you have an idea about the history and the...More

We were told that this was the Venice of Asia! Not close, it was a quaint, entertaining boat trip through the canals. You could watch people do their laundry and hang it, some cute little town areas with people having their pictures taken for weddings....More

Almost like sailing along the smaller canals in Venice. But with the aromas of the East not pasta. Later a walk through the winding markets with local fare on offer at very reasonable prices. Should not miss this opportunity to see this part of Suzhou.

Went on a 45 min cruise along the grand canal - wonderful. Tranquil water, clean waterways, old buildings and perfect weather. At the end we disembarked and walked through Shan Tang St which was packed with local people buying their fruit and vegetables for the...More

I've been in similar river tours all over Asia, this one was nice but nothing extraordinary. I didn't like the fact that the captain of our boat tried very persistently to persuade us to buy useless souvenirs.

The closest Metro station is "Leqiao" on Line 1. Line 4 will be closer but it is not finished yet. It is about 3km walk due south on Renmin Lu. The wharf is on the left just before you cross the canal. The price was about... More
