Everything here go in pairs like mandarin ducks - couples - like yin and yang! Lot of symbolism in this lovely little garden - perhaps not so known, but really a nice one. Worth studying the informations! and take the boat to Pingjiang lu - not only to parking lot. You will see lots of people's life around by this... More

Some smaller gardens and paths connecting the house. At the end there is a little boat ride to take you back to the parking lot. Tip the... More

The garden was supposed to be for the wives of the wealthy man in Suzhou, China. It is very artistic and calming...its good to bring kids to this place. And spend some time in the garden. At the end of the trip from the garden, we will be taken to the exit door by a traditional boat. Remember to give... More

Having visited the Humble Administrator's and Lion Forest Gardens earlier in the day, I was somewhat Garden fatigued by the time I made it to the Ouyuan in the evening. The smaller scale of the garden and the smaller crowds revived me, and I spent a happy 1.5 hours wandering the garden and soaking it all in. While the larger... More

The "Couples Garden" is wonderful. It is the scale of a large home with grounds and feels like you could imagine living there. It's the sort of place that you look for the small details (be sure to look up as well as around!) rather than take lots of dramatic photos. Highly recommended.

This garden is hard to find, down an alley off Xi Bei Street. I suggest you bring the tourist map supplied by the Information Centre opposite the Suzhou Museum, and show it to locals as you go. They are happy to direct you, even when they speak no English, and you will eventually find the garden (as well as two... More

Much smaller and less crowded than the Humble Administrator's Garden. Like other reviews said, get here early to avoid the tour groups. The garden is much nicer when it is quiet and peaceful; the yelling tour groups disrupt the tranquility (and also make it very difficult to move about).

This Garden in Suzhou is nice and properly maintained. It’s not one of the biggest but you can a have a feeling of the old Chinese way of life. I’ve enjoyed this attraction and it allows to go the canals and the old city of Suzhou. The subway is near and due to the size and location it allows you... More

Ouyuan Garden (The Couple's Retreat Garden) was added to UNESCO's World Heritage Sites in 2000. It took a little more than an hour from Shanghai to Ouyuen. This is a typical wealthy or government official house. The house has 2 gardens, south side and east. This garden went through many owners and history and it eventually became run down. In... More
