If you enjoy history, this is a great place to spend a day. It was hot but there are plenty of places to cool off. The museum was interesting and the live show was very good. The litter around the grounds and the dirty water in the fountain and ponds were off putting, however. And don't forget you're in China... More

The grounds are nice to walk around and there is a small museum on site. Many of the signs in the museum are printed with English translation so you can get an idea of the ancient nomadic lifestyle in Inner Mongolia. The site was worth the visit and not too far outside of Hohhot.

This place is 20min by taxi from Hohhot downtown. There is a walk of 1h or 1h30 to do where you will discover the Hun museum w/ old replica of bronze pieces exhibit, a chinese paper cutting exhibit, an old typical house, a grave alley, and finally the top of the tumb from where you can get a nice view... I also really liked the paper cutting exhibit, and the art exhibit up front. Because I went in the off season, there was very few things... More

The various buildings show cased the history as well as artifacts which to me was fascinating, and in particular from the Hue era. The tomb of Zhaojun on the hill was another attraction which should not be missed, for anybody interested in history this is a perfect place to visit.

This site is just over 10 miles from Hohhot and is dedicated to Zhaojun who is famous for marrying a tribal chief and bringing peace among the nationalities. You can climb to the top of the earthen pyramid built above her grave and view the farmland around the site. There is also a museum on the site, which houses copies... More
