This part of the wall is worth visiting if you are in the area. We stayed one night in Qinhuangdao and made a trip here from the hotel in the morning. You can buy tickets online in advance and pick them up at a machine...More

Not a typical part of Chinese Great Wall, only a small part of Great Wall and a fortress. Good modernized in late 80's Very crowded at weekends. There is no good place to eat.

The Old Dragon's Head is where the Great Wall of China reaches the sea, just east of Shanhaiguan (the first gate/fort on the wall). The site includes the great wall and the adjoining military encampment. It took about 2 hours for us to go around....More

It was fantastic to see the beginning of the Great Wall, well restored and easy accessible. Picturesque scenery with the Wall starting in the sea. I remain a big fan of Great Wall.

I was quite excited to see this section if the Great Wall. It's reasonably priced. The Wall has been restored so everything around is clean and looks almost brand new. There are many great places for photos. Just to the south there is a temple...More

Laolongtao is the starting point of the Eastern Great Wall. This scenic area is a great place to rest for a short trip over a weekend.

This is end of the Great Wall, place must see if you're travelling to the northern part of China. After this, then go to the beginning of the Great Wall at Ginsu.

It is so easy to get the bus from the West Gate to Dragons Head and people are so friendly, that I did not consider a guide. It is only about 30 min ride on the bus and a short walk - just follow the crowd. It is a bit of a... More
