My wife and I were touring the Palisades and decided to stop at state line lookout because we heard good things about it. It was winter time so it wasn't as busy as I assume it is in summer. It was very quaint with a limited but affordable menu. The views of course were spectacular. If you're going to make... More

While traveling on the Palisades Parkway a great stop for a view and a quick cheap lunch. The menu is limited but the prices are good as is the food. Coffee and a BLT for a little over 5 bucks half pound burgers and foot long dogs!! Picnic tables for good weather and a view that can't be beat Worth... More

My brother and I went to NY state for a funeral. Since we were flying out of NYC, we took a little road trip through New Jersey. This was first on the list and it was great. Not only is free always a good thing but the views were fantastic. We'd have stayed longer if we'd had the time and... More

There are a number of interesting hikes using the parking lot here as a base. This one is relatively easy but rewarding for a longer hike. This hike offers an easy loop on pleasant woods roads and paths north of the State Line Lookout. It is suitable for cross-country skiing when conditions permit, but while it is a relatively easy... A must stop on the Palisades. The views are awesome - overlooking the Hudson and birding is fantastic. The State Line Cafe is a great place for a bite and a pit stop.

Stopped by for a quick visit and picnic on a beautiful autumn day. The place was so crowded! The bird watchers were everywhere. They told us they were watching a falcon on its perch but we never saw it fly. The views of the fall foliage with the rugged cliffs as a backdrop was spectacular. The river was calm and... More

Just a short drive on the Jersey side of the GWB, the State Line lookout is an absolutely stunning and beautiful space to enjoy a picnic lunch. Hiking trails are everywhere and can suit anyone with different levels of difficulty. If you suffer from camera envy, though, don't come here. The birders have insane lenses.

This is a great place for a snack and to enjoy the view. Be sure to check out the books for sale. Nothing special except the history.

I normally take the Palisades Interstate Parkway if possible -- the stops are always interesting, and the road has one last cheap gas stop before going upstate New York. The food in the Inn is limited in scope but remarkably good for a place run by kids between 18 and 26 or so. Also quite a good selection of books... More
