The lake water is cloudy, and the drink at the restaurant on the lake is expensive and normal taste. However, it is very good to have this experience, and the sunset view is nice. But I couldn't snap one.. Do try it out. We visited...More

Take a guided tour of Tonle Sap Lake to visit the floating villages of Siem Reap, complete with floating schools, markets and more. The 4-hour trip includes an English-speaking guide, private boat and round-trip transportation from your Siem Reap hotel.

On our way to Tonlie Sap,our Tuk Tuk took us to this bumpy red earth dirt track. The road was uneven and sometime we had to negotiate through pot hole.Whenever a car passed by,the dusty red earth enveloped the atmosphere. It was definitely not recommended for people...More

This is not what they say it is. $23 pp!!!! Rip off! Taken by car on a short ride to the lake, boat ride to a restaurant of sorts and then back. Our guide just sat at his 'friends' restaurant, oh did I forget to...More

Coming from an archipelagic country, it's a stunner to see this vast water basin, in fact the largest in Southeast Asia. However, the attraction badly needs development. It's absurd to pay $20/pax for a boat ride and worse make an attraction out of the villages.

We took the Tara Queen floating restaurant tour during Tonle Sap trip. The tour guide was good, the floating restaurant (big boat) was also good and only this part is worth remembering. The floating villages or fishing communities left us with mixed feelings, telltale poverty...More

We were on a private tour with Indo-China Services but another couple we chatted with hired a tuk-tuk driver (I would prefer a cab-the road is dusty) and then they purchased there tickets at the lake for the boat.
I am intending to visit Tonle Sap. However, I heard from quite a number of people about scamming by some of locals there. Among others, they will force you to buy rice as a donation to them. 1. Regarding the scam, is it true? I am very confused and I don't want to be scammed. 2. What is the real rate to visit Tonle Sap? 3. What is the best way to avoid from being scammed? Thank you.

We did see a few boy monks cutting grass but no-one approached us asking to donate rice .... imo, if you did want to donate to the monks, then let your guide know and they will happily help you to do this :-)
