About
Some may find it over-powering, but if you're looking for where everybody is, then Pub Street it is. Lined with restaurants and bars selling cheap beer and reasonable food. Later on, the music starts thumping and there's often almost a party atmosphere. People watching is free.

There is no life in the old Pub Street. Siem Reap has not yet bounced back after COVID and everything is hurting money wise. I’m sure it will one day but anyone’s guess when. However some places had built up a reputation and the local business houses thrived on that reputation for some years thereafter without having to put anything back into the business. At the same time they lowered the quality and lifted the prices yet the customers sill came and it had ambiance and excitement which just thrived on itself. Pub Street in Siem Reap was one such place.
However over the more recent years pre COVID it began to wane and loose much value for the customer and the current period with nobody here it can be seen for what it has become. Sadly it is not the Pub Street of many years ago and unlikely to ever be again.
Still some touts about offering to take you probably to locals version of this street, Khmer Pub Street, showing you pictures of “chicken farm type” girls waiting for clients and you would need to be brave or stupid to get into their tuk tuk and be taken to some place at their mercy with no sense of how to get back.
Time to move on.

We visited at 8pm and it was still quite empty so lacked the character I'm sure it has when busy. The area is still suffering from a lack of visitors. Hope they come back soon or the venues/staff will suffer.

Pub street was cool with a few european / western expats and tourists going for dinners and drimks. Ice cream rolls sold here and some street vendors. A few clubs were open but not many. Its only been 2 months since Cambodia opened to tourism so the pandemic has affected the area. Some bars are shut and closed down. So if you want a wild night, its probably going to be empty at the moment. We went for cocktails & dinner which was perfect.

I went here acouple of times as it's the place where the party is in Siem Reap. It wasn't too busy but abit of fun to look around at clubs and restaurants.

Pub Street is most definitely not going to suit everyone, especially at night, when it gets busy and loud. My wife and I visited in the afternoon and enjoyed touring the various bars to see what was on offer, and found some places with really low prices.

We are both in our 60s, yet quite enjoyed the atmosphere at night, but left before it became really raucous. However, the main reason we left was not to avoid the noise and large crowds, but because we had an early rise to go and visit Angkor Wat for the sunrise.

I'd definitely recommend a visit, but would suggest going in the afternoon to have a better look around in the daylight and get your bearings before returning after dark.

After the long walks during the day, this was the perfect place to unwind with a few chilled beers. Food across is great and while you are there I suggest you try the Khmer cuisine. Take up a spot facing the street and let the street performers keep you entertained.

I can only imagine what this street would be like in normal times. Unfortunately, much of Siem Reap was closed down during our stay. Despite this we did hang around after dark and ate at the Red Piano which was good. I love to come back when the tourists return.
