It was constructed during the reign of King Jayavarman VII in the late twelfth Century, serving as one of the five entryways to Angkor Thom. This entryway was imperative as... More

Take the time to stop and check out this entrance. The gate and the lake make for some nice pictures.

I suppose for me this was the moment when you know when you have arrived in the magnificent place Siem Reap is. I liken it to seeing my first wild elephants or lions in Africa on safari. There is just so much more to see and experience, but the gate is iconic, and leads to much, much more. In itself,... More

This was probably my favorite site/thing to see in the Angkor Wat area. Really cool. Walk down the bridge and get terrific photos.

You pass through Victory Gate on your way to tour the temples, it is fantastic and really worth stopping to take your time to have a look and take some photos.

When we first arrived to see the Bayon faces on the tower and the bodies line up on each side, I thought what it would have been in ancient times. It's pretty impressive to see when entering. Note the faces on the right(I was told the faces are from hell) and the faces to the left. And the are holding... More

At the Victory Gate, you can just pull up on your bike or in your tuk-tuk and get some good closeup photos of those iconic stone faces which appear at a number of locations in Angkor. Walk around to get the best light and state or preservation (or decay, which can be just as picturesque).

With any of the outdoor sites of interest. Go as early as possible. It is so humid and hot and teaming with other tourists that after a couple of hours you are over it. Selfish I know as we were one of them but some people are so arrogant of others.

Our TukTuk driver stopped and told us to walk through and so we did. It made us feel like where were back in history walking thorough the gate as so many others did before us. Giving us that feeling as though we were back in time. It was so beautiful.

Here, you can take some great photos along the entrance as well the lake on the side. Less crowded so you can take photos at any angle you want.
