Kbal Spean is a must do when one is in Angkor / Siem Reap area. It is a fabulous though steep trek on rocky and anaconda size roots infested track. The scenery is beautiful and the carving of hindu deities and numerous shiva lingas on...More

One of the best things I have seen in Cambodia, sad it took me so long to actually go to see it. Very nice trip out there and a very good day out. Worth the time and money.

The route up the mountain is not challenging is we take our time to hike with short breaks in between. The distance from foot to top is 1500m. Just watch your steps as the sand covering stones are very fine so it could be slippery....More

Nice, easy hike - but hot and the river is dry in dry season. My parents (in their 70s) found the hike a bit tricky. But the carvings are impressive and it's nice to have a hike during a day of temple hopping to stretch...More

It's a day tour to visit this attraction together with batei Srei, but it's a nice variation. It's impressive to see the thousands fallus and yoni carved out in the river bed over a distance of not less than 7 km.

There is a 1.5 km walk up a fairly rugged path to the river where there are a number of carvings in the stone of the bed. The trail (poorly marked at this point) follows the river downstream a bit to a waterfall and a...More

I almost got heat stroke on the hike up to Kbal Spean - my own fault for trying to do the hike whilst wearing motocross boots, motocross body-armour and shin/knee guards (I was on a motorcycle tour). I should have left the gear at one...More

It's an amazing non-temple ruin to vary your trip up. Beautiful habitat here, and the keen eye will see several species of reptiles and birds on the short 1km hike to the site. The site is pretty neat, you can imagine the king with his...More

We loved the hike but come prepared. It's quite a ways up with uneven footing. Everyone proceeds at their own pace - ardent climbers with sensible boots, girls in summer dresses and flip flops. You just need to be prepared for rocks, steps, no steps...More

No, but it would be quite hot and tiring. PLUS from the base of the hill you have to climb anyway. And that is for at least 45 minutes. So it's preferable to hire a car.
