The hike would not have been worth it, but then we found the stairs down to the area below the waterfall. This was an amazing little place. Friendly butterflies that let you hold them, a nice refreshing waterfall and a real jungle vine tree swing. It is a little nirvana.

Kbal Spean is about 30 minutes drive from Siem Reap. The creek itself is situated off-road and one need to track for about 45 minutes (1.5km) to reach the site where the sculptured stones are. One of the best jungle tracks I’ve ever been to: properly maintained, clean and accessible for anyone between 5 to 65 years (or older). Need... More

Ventured here as part of a trip to Banteay Srei. It's a lovely walk up quite a meandering path to a small waterfall at the top. Unfortunately we couldn't get near the falls for a splash as they were monopolised by some very loud locals. Some nice views over the valley on the way. The carvings are a little underwhelming... I loved the site! The natural setting is beautiful and the carvings unlike anything I've seen. However, if you expecting to be overwhelmed with the carvings or expect a waterfall approaching Niagra, you will be disappointed. This is more of a quiet, gentle respite from the temple grandeur. I arrived about 9 A M and there were very few of... More

These carvings are simply exquisite. Take plenty of water and a snack with you. The hike is a steep one, but well-worth it.

The drive from Siem Reap passes through countryside that feels much further than 40km from Pub Street. The carvings in the riverbed are unique, and make a great half day trip worth taking if you have more than 2 days in Siem Reap. Stop at a village on the way back with your moto driver for a heavy session on... More

Kbal Spean didn't quite meet my expectations compared to other temples, I expected more/bigger status/carvings. Still, it was a great day out and I got to experience a walk in the forest almost on my own. I combined this with Banteay Srei and a boat tour on the like and had a fantastic day out. A great way to see... More

The site is accessed by a climb which is steep and very uneven in places, more of a track than a path really, not for anyone who is not physically fit and nimble on their feet.

I combined this with a trip to Banteay Srei, which was a 5 hour day, including travel to and from my hotel near Pub Street in Siem Reap. It was really nice to get out of town, and see something different from the temples I'd been visiting since arriving in Cambodia. I don't think you could ever get bored of... More

After all that temple hopping, this was a welcome change. Even if we hiked through boulders and tree roots, we were rewarded by a waterfall massage. The natural thing beats the waterfall massage you will get in any spa. Anyway, other than that, the place also holds a little bit of history as it was the place where the king... More
