Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Khalifa, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Khalifa honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

At 828 metres (2,716.5 ft), the 200 plus storey Burj Khalifa has 160 habitable levels, the most of any building in the world. The tower was inaugurated on January 4, 2010, and is responsible for a number of world-firsts. The tower became the world’s tallest man-made structure just 1,325 days after excavation work started in January 2004.

Burj Khalifa utilised a record-breaking 330,000 cubic metres of concrete; 39,000 tonnes of steel reinforcement; 103,000 square metres of glass; and 15,500 square metres of embossed stainless steel. The tower took 22 million man hours to build.

Viewing the whole of Dubai from 148 floor of Burj Khalifa was an overwhelming experience for us. The Dubai mall, the reception with Arab tea and dates, travel to the 148 floor in one of the fastest elevators, 360 degree view of Dubai from the top, relaxing lounge at 148 floor were all unique experiences. Definitely worth it.

I stood looking up and even that makes you feel dizzy. We visted this in the evening and... More

We went as high as you could go, in my opinion there are no half measures. We were greeted in the lobby and taken for tea whilst we had a talk about what was going to happen on our visit. As we had booed the trip right to the top we got to skip the line so were straight through... More

The standard ticket allows you to go yo level 125 & 124, we paid extra to go up to level 148. I purchased my tickets in advance of our trip and I am glad we did because most times were sold out for both of the days we were there. It is very impressive - level 148 is just viewing... More

We went up the Burj Khalifa in early January. Going up the tower around 6:30/7 PM gives you an amazing view of the Dubai night skyline. This is a must for tourists visiting Dubai. I recommend booking your tickets at least 3 weeks in advance, as they sell quickly and are limited. Picking up the tickets is very easy from... More

The Burj Khalifa, is the most iconic building in the world, and going there is really really easy when you are in Dubai. Never take the train if you are a tourist as the taxi there is really really cheap as fuel there is 50 cents per litre. Taxi drivers are always on the ball, and they are not the... More

Staying in Downtown Dubai

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Dubai
You can’t fail to miss Dubai’s iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. It towers over the city and resides in the prestigious Downtown development. Once an old army base, Downtown is now the jewel in Dubai’s crown, a beautiful residential and leisure area housing not only the world’s tallest building, but the world’s largest fountains and mall. Wide marble sidewalks are perfect for strolling, with restaurants, art galleries and children’s play areas. Specially commissioned sculptures line the roads and Downtown is often used as a canvas for modern art displays and community events such as Classic Car Shows and National Day parades. In the cooler months, cross one of the many bridges to the Burj Khalifa park and enjoy a picnic alongside residents and visitors, or enjoy a lunch or dinner watch the dancing fountains. Because of its mixed use, Downtown is a fantastic place to mix with Dubai residents and locals and watch real life unfold in a cosmopolitan environment.
