As soon as we stepped inside the gate to this old bazaar, we were mesmerised. It loops through a series of covered galleries at the top but still feels like an open-air market.
There are so many gold shops here where you will see various designs of gold jewelry ranging from 18 to 24 karats. There are also white and rose gold combinations. All sorts of jewellery and even gold bars are available here.
Aside from gold, there are some souvenir shops and items for sale, such as clothing and memorabilia.
My friend ended up purchasing 2 gold sets for a great price.
I believe it is best to visit the Gold Souk in the mornings when there is natural light, and you can clearly see the designs and how the gold is crafted.
Also, the bathrooms are super clean - after every usage, they clean themselves! I was baffled by this technology.

I came from Canada with my 5 teenaged children. A few months earlier my daughter took herself to a mall and bought a 10kt gold necklace for $665 CDN. I was livid because she knew we were heading to Dubai. We made her return it of course. We get to Dubai find an 18kt gold necklace for the equivalent of $445 CDN! I had planned on talking down the price, but there was no point. All together she bought 3 necklaces, and 3 rings. This place is ONE of the reasons I want to return. SO MUCH GOLD!!

Very interesting. Looks quite organized with commodity prices, but one still feels a bit that you might be cheated just because of its environment.

Old Gold soul Dubai was a fun highlight of our trip, with a heap of local flavour and fun so different from the modern malls.
If you are a jewellery lover, why not explore the amazing variety and beauty with a view to buying something amazing?
Oasis Jewellery is one small store among many but my husband entered in a whim and I was bound to follow. What I found was an incredible store stocked to the rafters with items not only fashionable to the western eye but incredibly tasteful, extravagant and well done. Take your time to explore this store you are sure to find something worth splurging on.
In fact, I would even save up to go shop there with a view to a possible purchase in mind!
My salesman Nazeer was knowledgeable, passionate, patient, and personable. His young female Asian assistant? Well perhaps she is new to the industry, doesn’t like jewellery or maybe just burned out. I hope I see him and don’t see her, next time I visit.

We liked walking down the alleys here which were wider and cleaner than in the nearby old souk. The jewelry was nice to look at, but let's face it, your typical Trip Advisor traveler is unlikely to afford much of it

Fascinating to see, maybe if you are in a small group you can follow the people selling fake watches and see how badly they are made.

Reaching the souq by boat gives it a special feel. It is better to go early in the morning or late in the afternoon as it gets hot and crowded. The sheer variety and quality of gold jewellery is astounding. Every design and price point. Just be sure to browse extensively before you buy.

Ps: I appreciated that there were walking vendors for water and juice that make it easy to grab a bottle.

Dubai’s Gold souq is actual one of the most popular landmark of Dubai since the time Dubai got its recognition.

With 300 shops and more coming up and each having a stock of about 200 to 250 kgs of gold, the market net worth of this entire market is more than $6 billion.

Each shop’s showcase over shadows the other shop with its elaborate display of ornaments, some even designing bridal dresses made of gold. Upon enquiry we were told that Arab ladies do buy them for their marriages.

It’s a must visit for anybody visiting Dubai, even for window shopping.
