About
Mimicking a traditional Arabian bazaar, Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a popular marketplace in Dubai. It’s interconnected with waterways, lined with bars and bistros, as well as offers a picture-perfect view of the Burj Al Arab. Here, you can get adrift in a maze of stalls and browse everything from oud perfumes and glimmering jewelry to fragrant spices and Turkish pottery. You can also plan for an alfresco meal and soak in the good vibes outdoors. That’s not all—the best way to admire the bazaar is to hop on a traditional Emirati-style gondola and sail along the tranquil waterways. – Tripadvisor

Many interesting things that you can buy from dozens of stands. A lot of very nicely decorated restaurants, where alcohol is also sold, making you forget that you are in a country where it is difficult to find something like this in a restaurant. The whole complex is surrounded by a system of canals, which you can ride on an abra, for a rather high fee.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 23 November 2023

They are making the Christmas Season in Dubai very joyful and enjoyable here in Dubai in the winter season. There are a lot of activities and experiences. 36 ft Christmas tree Light & sound Christmas trees shows Mini train rides Bungee jumping Venetian carousel Festive decorated abra rides Gingerbread house Festive shopping Festive dining Live band entertainment Boat Ride Everything is so Christmassy, Festive with the Burj Al Arab as a view, it is very wonderful. Numbers of restaurants are available for dining giving Christmas vibes as well. Please note, the lights and vibes are very nice at night but try to come early as there are a lot of people coming and experiencing. And traffic in Madinat are is very congested.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 January 2024
- Aunt_TrayPhoenixville, Pennsylvania250 contributionsBest Shopping for SouvenirsThis is a great spot for souvenir shopping. The products that you will find here are of a higher quality than the other souks and reasonably priced. You should try to negotiate the price here just like the other souks. Some popular items that you can find here are abayas, kaftans, lamps, camel chocolates, perfumes, jewelry, pashminas and many more. There are also restaurants here.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 23 January 2024
- layal khaledUnited Arab Emirates1 contributionThe breathtaking ; Souk madinat JumeirahThe perfect encapsulation between new and old, Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a clever shopping and dining destination next to the iconic Burj al Arab. From boat tours to locally handmade jewellery and handcrafts, Souk Madinat Jumeirah truly has it all ! Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a popular marketplace in Dubai with breathtaking sights, souvenirs and cafes. It is interconnected with magnificent, crystalline turquoise-blue waterways, which you can experience by taking one of the boat tours. The boat tour can truly capture all your senses, from the fragrant salty smell of the ocean to getting to look at the picturesque and mind-blowing nature that surrounds the place. Not to mention, you will have the chance to look at and admire the dazzling Burj al Arab. Personally, Souk Madinat Jumeirah is one of the places I would go back to numerously. The atmosphere is warm and light-hearted and the dining experience is exquisite. Additionally, the Souk genuinely mimics an old Arabian bazaar with tons of shops and kiosks for an excellent shopping trip. The only thing I would refrain from doing is visiting it the summer, because the very hot and scorching Dubai weather will prevent you from getting to experience the outdoor parts of the Souk. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place to everyone , young and old , especially tourists since the location is one of a kind. If you’re looking for the perfect place to go with your family or your friends then Souk Madinat jumeirah is the place to be !Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 27 January 2024
- AYESHADubai, United Arab Emirates91 contributionsA Fusion of CULTURE & COMMERCESouq Madinat Jumeirah offers numerous stalls catering to different tastes. Prices tend to be a bit higher than regular shops. It's a tourist hotspot, offering a captivating view of the iconic Burj Al Arab. Visitors can enjoy nearby boating and appreciate the market's charming antique touch. Sure, it feels good to spend an evening.✔️Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 February 2024
- DMcGBangor, United Kingdom54 contributionsWonderfulWhat a great place and as a family we love to revisit each time we visit Dubai. The people within the souk are so friendly and accommodating, and don’t get put off with a little hard selling, it adds to the charm and is as found in other market venues. A simple ‘No thank you’ is sufficient and respected. Great selection of items to buy or consume and you can get lost for a while within the rabbit warren around the beautifully maintained facility. Having stayed with Jumeriah Hotels a number of times we love the spirit, generosity and quality provided from the Group, however my only criticism on this visit was the fact that they’re now charging 100AED (£20) per person to travel on the Abras around the facility … a little steep for a family of 4 to take a quick trip along the water course, which could do with a little tidy. Unfortunately the only thing we didn’t get to enjoy on this journey to Dubai. All in all a wonderful place and certainly worth the visit.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 15 August 2024

It’s a really nice area with great ambiance and a decent variety of goods but not nearly as much variety as more traditional souks. Things are priced higher as well, which is fine if you want to pay more for proximity and ambiance. Shop owners/employees were a bit pushy for my liking too. I felt like I couldn’t browse freely without being pressured to buy in most of the shops. Most of them were satisfied with “I’m not interested or no thank you or we’re still looking” and didn’t continue to pressure us. Some still continued though. It wasn’t very busy so I’m sure they’re sales are down.
The only purchase we made was some sweets at a shop called something like “Grand Bazaar Dates & Sweets.” We payed $22 USD for 2 slices of a chocolate pistachio nougat roll and 2 small pieces of baclava. Ridiculous. I didn’t think I needed to ask how much they were in advance but apparently I was wrong. They were boxed up for us before we were told the price (priced by weight). The guy kept trying to add more to the box too and I kept telling him no thank you, 2 is enough. He kept trying to get me to buy more by giving me other samples too. Normally that’s a welcomed tactic but I really wasn’t interested in anything else. Both sweets we bought were really good though! 😉
The restaurants along the water all looked like great spots to eat. We got a picture by the water with the Burj al Arab in the background. Most everyone had masks on inside and out but it didn’t appear anyone was enforcing it and we were able to remove our masks to eat and drink as we walked around.

This place is just one of my favorite places. you can relax, enjoy and unwind with your friends and family. there's a lot of cafes and restaurant and you can enjoy the stunning view of Burj al Arab from this place. When I visit this place there's a huge number of tourists from different places. so if you're visiting Dubai you should include this t your list.

We visited this on a morning and it was very quiet, it had just opened and the Dubai marathon was on. We got dropped off near the Souk because the roads were closed but managed to find it. There could have been around 100 little shops and cafes that we wandered around. We thought the prices of gifts were very reasonable and we decided to walk around and go for a coffee. We went to costa for a drink so we could sit outside and look out at the Burj Al Arab which is a fantastic view. After this we walked around some more and decided to go on an Abra and sail around the Jumeirah hotels and get a full view of the beach and surrounding area. We paid 100aed each for a 20minute ride and we thought this was definitely worth it. The abra holds up to 10 people but there were only four of us. The boat stops in front of the Burj and the driver offered to take pictures of us in front of this spectacular backdrop at the front of the boat. We loved this and is different to anything we’ve done and was such a good experience to have. There were plenty of restaurants in the area if you’re hungry and lots of amazing hotels if you can afford to stay there. Locals have access to Jumeirah beach from here but you have to be staying at the hotel for this.

Would recommend everyone to visit Souk Madinat! It is - even if artificial built - a nice souk with a brilliant atmosphere, especially in the winter months and at sunset and evening time!
However, unfortunately you see this place since few years getting more unpopular and the crowded times are over. Being a resident in Dubai, we visited the souk after a while not being there to check out new retail and in particular F&B outlets. Amazing places have opened up. Besides consuming in 3 different restaurants and shopping in retail stores with an amount over 1.500 dirham we paid 60 dirham for the parking!!!!!! Seriously, how will this place ever get back to life??? How will the F&B outlets survive as they do not offer validating free parking for at least 3 hours (only the Jumeirah Group ones do). There is 1 hour free which is even not enough for drinking a coffee and each extra hour is 15 dirham! For unfortunately a reason to prefer other places where we even get free valet parking.

What hits you first is the design, Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a nicely planned mall (souk) with plenty of space for shopping, dining and other forms of entertainment.
We thoroughly enjoyed walking around and exploring various establishments selling art, perfumes, spices and all kinds of souvenirs.
Some a bit kitschy, while the others pretty genuine and elegant. Everyone could find something for themselves, I guess.
Although there weren't too many people inside at the time, we had a good impression of the place in terms of atmosphere and overall vibe.
Tried out one of the restaurants for lunch (The Noodle House) and weren't disappointed at all, excellent food quality and good value for your money.
Finally, we found there's plenty of space to relax and enjoy the afternoon outside as well, either sitting on the terrace or joining a boat ride along the canal.
Recommended!

The Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a relatively small indoor market, which over the years has turned into a tourist trap with not a lot of options. I've been to it some years ago and it was a nice experience combined with lunch / dinner at the Madinat restaurants, but these days there are security guards which prevent you from going to the restaurants unless you have a reservation. Total turn-off for us, and we will never ever recommend this place. Not worth it to visit. Jumeirah Al Qasr also over-priced and not worth it.

This place looked great in the pictures but was a big disappointment, mostly I think because we went during the day. The place was empty, there was no music playing and zero atmosphere. We really fancied the Abra ride - the waterway is really stunning - until we found out it would cost us £100 as a family for a 20 minute ride (compare this with AED 60, approx £15, for us all to take a 30 minute private Abra tour on Dubai Creek). I can imagine you’d have a much better experience if you went at night, when restaurants would be busy etc, but if you’re thinking of a daytime visit, I’d give it a miss.

One of the all time favorite places to visit for downtime with friends or when we have friends and family over. The architecture combined with the views makes Souk Madinat one of the best photo opps in the city. Add to that, the fact that they have a ton of restaurants, cafes and bars - something for everyone- whether you want something family friendly (Noodle House) or casual fun with friends (Belgian Beer Cafe is an all time fave). If you’re visiting Dubai with friends this is a great place to pub hop. In December, the souk hosts a fun Christmas market- great for everybody (especially families with young kids).
Note: Best to get an Uber or cab there, parking can be tricky

A colorful place, I especially liked the shop of Afghan treasures.
I visited twice, the first time with a guide as part of a tour, the second time on my own. The guide very correctly recommended a seller of camel milk ice cream right at the main entrance. The ones that I liked the least are the same price.
Prices in the market are very, very high compared to a store for locals - what costs 10 dirhams there (a linen shopper) here will cost from 40. But Madinat Jumeirah is really very beautiful, here you can walk in the coolness and look at it like in a museum things from all over the world. And then go outside and walk around Dubai Venice.

Can you walk to Jumeriah hotel from here in July heat it says 11 minute walk or 3 minute taxi 🤨
Written 10 March 2024
In July the temperature is likley to be anywhere upwards of 40 degrees C, more likely 45. I am sure you can imagine walking anywhere outside is challenging so 11 minutes might feel like a whole lot longer. If you have children or older people I would strongly recommend you grab a cab..

Do you get free abra ride if you have a restaurant reservation for lunch/dinner? And does it have to be a specific restaurant?
Written 4 January 2020
I'm pretty sure you have to be a hotel guest for a free abra trip. You can pay for a full tour, cost is around 100 Dhs per person I believe. Hope this helps.
