This temple might be smaller than some others in LP but it is just as magical. We attended the evening prayers of the monks in the main hall after we were told that this temple might allow visitors to attend the prayers/chanting if they follow...More

Absolutely not worth the detour. Nothing to see at the village. You'll find all their stuff and much more at the night market. The only nice side attraction is the temple on the way to the village, which is a nice site indeed.

Ban Phanom is located some 4 km north of Luang Prabang. This handicraft village was once the former royal weaving village.

A short motorbike ( or bicycle ride if you are keen) ride out of Luang Prabang takes you to the traditional craft centre where an interesting time can be had bargaining and laughing with the women selling traditional Lao scarfs, embroideries and shawls

Yes it's geared to tourists. Yes it's basically a textile market. However you get to wander around & get a feel for local life. It's educational & worth a short visit.

This is a village with a few shops. There is a so called weavers cooperative and they try to sell the same stuff thats found all over Luang Prabang. Not worth it at all. Some of the pictures here do not pertain to this place.

The place has become a commercial rip off. Nothing much of the weaving activities to see. They just want to sell you stuff at high price..... way higher price than the identical items you can find at the night market. However the temple next to...More

We have travelled around Asia quite alot and try to support local communities but felt like a trapped tourist waiting to be ripped off. I would have enjoyed watching the weavers work but the constant buy from me was to much. Really not worth visiting.
