It was our last second decision to visit this temple on the way back from U-Bein bridge but we weren’t disappointed. Temple is quite big, a little crowded but it was not surprising since many people come there for praying. Buddha statue itself is very impressive. Only men are allowed close to the altar, but if you want to go... More

According to my companion and guide, both Buddhists, this is the second most revered temple in Myanmar. The six statues are a key part of temple, but not easy to find. Temple was packed during our entire visit. I would recommend a Burmese speaking guide for a complete experience.

A must do if you find yourself in Mandalay. A truly special experience. Allow enough time to take it all in. Mandalay a wonderful place to visit anyway.

This temple had the most worshipped Boeddha in the city. Only downside is women cannot approach the statue.

It is good to see the Golden Buddha; it has changed over the years as more gold leaves are placed. Unfortunately, only men are allowed close to Buddha and place gold leaves.

Did a brief visit here of 20-30 minutes and could of spent more time to soak in the atmosphere better. The Golden Buddha is a must see but only men are allowed to touch it and put gold leafs on it. There are a lot of other things to see at the Pagoda.

We woke up at 3:30 for attend the face washing ceremony. We arrived the pagoda around 4, there were a number of locals at the gate. During the ceremony, the locals were respectfully praying out loud. If you visit Mandalay, this is a must activity i do recommend.

Interesting to see so many buying or bringing gold leafs to put on the Budda...men only allowed. As we walked through most areas were full of locals who come to worship. Very active and beautiful temple.

Worshipping or shopping? That's an important question in all Burmese Buddhist temples. I visited this place during Thadingyut Festival 2016 and I did see more business than anything else.

Again we go barefoot here in the pagoda. Here is where we can experience the local devotion and piety of the Buddhists in Myanmar. While there are many tourists, one can see a steady stream of locals visiting the Golden Buddha. People bring lotus flowers and the makes buy gold leaf which they put on the Golden Buddha. It is...
