We were staying at the Sedona, which is a block away from the theater. The theater is fairly small and the night I went to see the show there were only 7 people in the audience. The cost is approximately U.S .$8. The one hour show was excellent and very enjoyable. During each scene , the curtain is lifted for... More

On our first night in Mandalay we hopped in a taxi and took ourselves to see the Myanmar Marionettes. We have seen various puppet shows while traveling in Asia – the water puppets in Vietnam and the shadow puppets in Indonesia – so we decided it was time for another puppet experience. We were not disappointed. The cost is minimal... More

We did not know exactly what to expect It is a very small theater, no AC very hot and lots of moskitos bring sprays with you Students greet you because they want to speak english please do so The theater gives a short stunning performance with main characters Usually theaters like this would go on from sunset till sunrise I... Unfortunately I really did not like it... Music too loud. I think it's not organized and some marionnates can be not very beautiful. I would like write a message like people wrote "you have to see his show!! " but sorry it was not for me... But people who make it are very nice and smily. I like Burman people.

Several locals insisted we see this, although the audience was almost entirely foreigners. The show was great and well explained. I especially liked the live dancer and musicians, and the fact that the puppeteers were revealed and featured ad different times throughout the performance. This is really worthwhile.

You must come here if paying a visit to Mandalay. Super cute performance, very talented artists and musicians and surprisingly live orchestra playing. It was a very enjoyable experience!

It is really awesome that the puppeteers are keeping this age old tradition alive and well. The theater is really fun and the commentator is very informative on the subject. They lift the curtain so that the audience can see the puppeteers in action the oldest of which is 80 years old and still performing.... quite amazing. We loved it... More

We bought tickets for $10 each beforehand and chose front row seats. We arrived a minute late and the show had just started. The man showed us to our seat and we sat for an hour watching the puppets. The other reviews explain the layout of the show. We had had some wine with dinner and so I found it... More

The marionette show does a great job of showcasing traditional puppetry, dance, and live music. It lasts an hour and is divided into several short segments, each of which holds your attention while providing a different style of entertainment from the rest, from a slapstick skit to a serious story to a dance-off between a puppet and a human. For... More

You can see the puppeteers at work at times when they raise the curtain. A very intimate place with perhaps 50 seats. The show lasts one hour. They supply a free bottle of water before the show and cost is only 10k. There is not many other things to do at night in Mandalay. Definately worth the excursion. Try to... More
