About
Resembling an imposing castle fortress, this citadel was built in the 1480s by Sultan Qaitbey on the site of the Pharos Lighthouse, to protect the city from the crusaders who used to attack the city by sea.

I walked down the Corniche all the way to the Fort. It was really nice just to sit down on the stone blocks and chill in the sun.

This fort is a reconstruction on the site of the historic Pharos lighthouse. It was originally built in the 1500's, and destroyed in the 1800's. The view and the setting is pretty--there is nothing to see inside the building.

The ancient Alexandria Lighthouse was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. The fort is interesting architecturally, on a great location but not much else to see.

This fort is near the beach! It built in the same place where there was the ancient lighthouse.I think that this place and its landscape are breath-taking! If you go to Alexandria you have to visit it!

It's not free, I forget the entrance fee but it's not too much. You pay at a window just off to the side.
