Great views, history and architecture. This Fort is a significant part of the history of Egypt-- not as old as the Pyramids but you appreciate it!

The fort was in great condition and well presented. Definitely a highlight of my time in Alexandria. Only complaint is foreigners pay triple price.

We did not have the opportunity to enter the Fort but it looks magical from the outside with people around the fort. It is a great relaxation point.

I was thinking of walking from the port of Alexandria where our cruise ship will be docked to Fort Qaitbey. Is there a sidewalk to walk on between these 2 points? Google just shows a roadway. We would be free to do this walk in the afternoon. Would my husband and I feel safe walking on our own between these 2 points? Would we need to show visa papers, passport at the customs when we leave/enter the port area? Thanks for more detailed info on how to get here.
