Studying the history of Plovdiv necessitates a trip to this museum, they have a tone of stuff that has been gathered around here and around Bulgaria thru the ages. Well worth the time if you like museums!

I loved it. I would've given it five stars if I'd been able to connect the sign outside to the inside. It stated there was an exhibit of Pagan history and its effect on current Plovdiv. I saw no mention of it in English once...More

I was expecting more from this museum having been to the one in Sofia. It would have been better if it was organized with more information in different languages

Definitely worth your time! There were NO other people or groups there when we were there. The Thracean and Roman pottery, jewelry, helmets, swords, etc, etc, etc, were all displayed properly and were WONDERFUL. A high spot for us in Plovdiv!

The museum is small, and could hardly be called "world class", but it does give a very good overview of local human presence since the neolithic until the medieval ages - quite interesting, if you want to put your trip in perspective ;) Personal favourite...More

One of the richest archaeological museums in the country. There are collections with prehistoric to medieval artifacts. It's modern and interesting with good explanations.
