We were visiting on a very hot and crowded day, and let's just say that this fountain was a popular hangout. Several people cut in front of me as I tried to fill my water bottle, and one of my family really didn't like the taste of the water. How wise is it to drink the water here as an... More

Fountain with a lot of faces spitting water. Restored after war, and from the photos they did an excellent work.

As you enter the Pile gate, your eyes are immediately drawn to the impressive Onophrian fountain, which welcomes all visitors and provides refreshment for visitors now as it has done for centuries.

Right after the Pile Gate, round fountain with drinkable water. This is a place where most people meet, for example to buy tickets for city walks or short trips so it might get really crowded, it was impossible for me to take a picture without people sitting or standing at the fountain. They rebuilt it after the great earthquake. The... More

Onofrio’s Large Fountain (Velika Onofrijeva), a tall concrete dome that during the Middle Ages was a collection point for water flowing into the city via an aqueduct from the Dubrovnik River 12km (7 1/2 miles) away. The day we visited it was a resting stop for those waiting and for street performers dressed up as different people and creatures in... More

All tourist visit the old town via pile gate. They then arrive at this fountain and congregate in this area whilst they all buy wall walk tickets. It means it can get very busy, with people sitting all over the fountains. A shame because they look nice but you never really get a chance to enjoy them.

Visited the old fortified city of Dubrovnik on 16 Nov. Once after entering the city via Pile Gate which is the main entrance, one will see Onophrian Fountain which is prominently-located. It was built in 1438-44 by Onofrio who was an architect. He was also in charged of the water supply system then. Water was drawn from River Dubrovacka. We... More

Situated just inside the walls, near the Pile Gate, this famous landmark was built in the 15th century. It was damaged in the 1667 earthquake but is still noteworthy

You will see this as long as you walk the main street in old town.. Good photo op, but thats about it, surrounded by tourists constantly and not much other than a fountain. Beautiful though.
