The fortress gives the impression of being imprenetrable. Guarding the entrance to the old port, this brooding stronghold is impressive. It now contains the Aquarium and the Maritime Museum. Don't forget to walk around to the sea side - there are nice views of the walls and the old port.

A must see, you cannot miss it if you go to the old city. Takes you back in time. Today, it houses the maritime museum and aquarium.

Imposing mediaeval structure that guards the port of the old town. There's a small 'beach' (a rocky spot from which you can enter the sea) just around the corner.

Fortunes come and go. The Ragusian republic peaked in the medieval period, and relied on ships and trade, so it was great to see what made things happen. Not a huge museum, static displays covering up to recent times, but interesting none the less.

Gives a nice view of the old town and doesn't cost any extra to visit after you've paid for city walls.

Visiting these old fortresses in Dubrovnik bring history alive and make Game of Thrones even more believable. Well worth visiting as they are in such good order
