The Franciscan Monastery is a large complex just inside the Pile Gate. The church itself is lovely but the highlight is probably the beautiful cloister.

Nothing grand like we were used to seeing in Italy but charming in a unique way, definitely worth visiting to help understand Croatian culture. Beautiful art and artifacts.

We decided to visit this after reading a lots of good trip advisor reviews. The current cost to get in is 30kn. The building is beautiful and the paintings in the arches are really beautiful. If visiting on a Sunday , you cannot purchase the products, which was a shame but totally understandable. Definitely worth a visit.

The visit only took around 20 minutes. It is nice to visit and luckily I read up on it before as nothing is in English in the Museum itself.

The Franciscan Church is located on the Stradun beside the St. Savior Church and opposite Ononfrio's fountain. The entry to this church is through the door that has an ornate stone carving of the pieta over it done by Petrovic in the late 1400's. This door is usually shut so visitors might think the door is locked. Using that door... More

See how you would live if you were a bishop in medieval times. Croatia has wonderful art and artifacts that are well maintained. The tour guides were great.

I spotted this place walking along the wals. I was intrigued by the cloister and a charming green garden so I decided to visit. The cloister is really stunning with elegant capitals. The building itself dates back to 1300s. The museum inside is small and they do not allow picture taking but it was interesting to see the old apothecary.... More

Dubrovnik Old Town has two monasteries. The last time we came here we visited the Dominican monastery and this time managed to find this one. There is less to see in these cloisters but inside you will find more artwork, beautiful stained glass.

As a member of a church where I live that is served by the Franciscans, it was one of the reasons why I wanted to visit this church. This church was once the richest in Dubrovnik but most was destroyed in the earthquake of 1667. A simpler church was then built using the portal from the original church. The portal... More
