Housed in the former Papalic Palace the museum is in the old city not far from the Golden & Silver Gates. The collection contains a lot of smaller, beautifully preserved relics rather than the larger pieces at the Archaeological Museum. If you are in the...More

This museum was OK, it had a few different bits and pieces in it. It was OK if you have time to kill but if you didn't visit you wouldn't be missing much. The staff were really friendly.

The city of Split has a long history and the museum reflects bits and pieces, just enough to give you a flavor and a sense of its citizens' pride of it. It doesn't take long to walk through and the displays can hold the interest...More

I don't get the good reviews for this place. Lovely building, but a random collection of artefacts from Split's past (that probably were not wanted by other museums in the city), very little narrative or context - you can learn more about the city and...More

Learn more about the history of Split and its people. The costume section was particularly good and the exhibition is well laid out over several floors.

When in Split make you don't miss this. It is a great way to soak up the culture that Split has to offer. Go early in morning.

Not so many pieces, but it is very well mounted and easy to follow. The palace setting is attractive. If you have time is nice, but not a must see.

We walked here from our cruise ship dock. It's a nice little museum in and old building on several floors. There's information on Diocletian on the main level, including a model of Diocletian's Palace and some of his coins. The upper levels progress with exhibits...More

More explanation of the palace that houses it is needed, but the collection, although small, is significant for housing some great artwork, stone sculpture, and a very significant handgonne (very early hand gun). Admission is very reasonable, and make sure you get to all the...More

I've noticed that a few reviewers have indicated how strange the lay-out of the house is, but didn't mention why. The reason is because this was not set up to be a museum initially. It was initially a home that was occupied by the Papalic...More
