About
Often referred to as the “lungs of the city”, this green forest oasis west of Split's old town area is a favorite amongst locals for hiking, biking, swimming, and rock climbing. The serene walk up to Telegrin peak includes 314 steps and rewards you with stunning panoramic views of the city and the Adriatic Sea. Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes, if not, there's always the tourist train that can take you straight to the top. Take your time to explore the other cool trails—pitstops include an old Jewish cemetery, quaint churches, cave dwellings, a museum dedicated to local sculptor Ivan Mestrovic, and some of Split's best beaches. – Tripadvisor

    Great views and exercise
Depending on your fitness this could vary in how long it takes to walk up. However the majority of people should manage even if they require to take it slowly. I wouldn't recommend doing this when the ground has been wet as the stones could be slippy. The views are excellent and worth the effort. You can either go up the main path to the top and then back down the same way, or if you are really ambitous you can walk around the perimeter, although that will take much longer. Even though there is a cafe/bar, I would still recommend taking refreshments with you especially when it is hot weather.

    Worth every step
To see this area in photos definitely sums up its magnificent beauty but to see it through your own eyes, it makes you really appreciate the simple things in life that nature has a habit of reminding us it has at hand. I really enjoyed the walk. I stayed at Lička Ulica 13 and it was a pleasurable walk from start to finish. Yes there are many steps but believe me for every step you take your view will be enhanced even more. I arrived at the top of the hill at 9.30am and there were no crowds. Just a handful of people. There is a restaurant at the start of the hill which of course may benefit those that start or finish their journey. I noticed a water fountain too in case one needs to fill up their bottles. Fantastic scenery and a must do whilst in Split.

PLEASE feed the animals at the zoo!
If you go to the Marjan Park, PLEASE do stop by the zoo next to the sightseeing spot to feed the animals. They seemed weak, malnourished and starving. The place was really dirty too. Each bag of vegetables cost only 10kn, so it won’t make much difference for you but will help the animals immensely. Me and my partner bought loads of bags and tried to feed them all when we went to the park. A really, really sad situation.

Lovely steep park with great views across Split and towards Italy.

Walking routes throughout the park but only one place to buy refreshments at the entrance (which is actually half way up the hill).

Toilets are porta loos dotted about, but not any maps to luk not judgement if you need the loo.

It's very hilly, so you get great views but you have to work for it up A LOT of steps. There is a bus apparently, but we didn't see them at all frequently, so you'd need to plan.

Best viewpoint is by the giant cross and Croation flag (up from the zoo) and along the path nearest the small chapels which are pretty but shut.

Cave houses are worth walking to, but you can't go in.

We'd recommend a sundowner in the bar overlooking Split. You can see the moon rise over the mountains.

Marjan Park is located in the Marjan Peninsula, in the surroundings of Split, the main city in the Center of Dalmatia Region. In fact, you can do a hike around all the Peninsula, where you can see very nice views of Split from some lookouts, go up to the highest mountain in the Peninsula (very easy), see some of churches or chapels located in the park like St. Nickolas Church, Church of our Lady of Bethlehem or St. Jeremy Church, and also go to any of beaches like Kasjuni Beach and bathe or sunbathe (we came here at the end of October and we could bathe) or only walk and see the views. Very nice half a day near Split.

Really enjoyed the walk here - serene, wooded with trails and steps. There is a small zoo of domesticated animals and a botanical garden. A healthy workout! And beautiful views from the top.

Marjan, an excquisite park-forest and a hill, provides the most gorgeous views on Split. From its top, you can see the richfulness of the Split area, how it is enclosed by mountains on one side and the sea/islands on the other.

While many use it for workout and training, due it its many jogging and cycling trails and routes, just taking a pieceful walk on one of its routes is something people like to do as well on a sunny day.

It has a botanical garden on the southern side, right pass the St. Nikola's church, while just below the top is a former zoo, now holding only domestic animals that could be found in Croatia's rural parts.

Beautiful hiking trails not far from old town. You can easily spend a whole day here if you want to, or just an hour or two. Nice views at the top by the Croatian flag.

Our trip to split was amazing , so much to see and take in something for everyone the medical town , beautiful turquoise sea , great coves and small stretches of beach , then you can easily take a boat to explore the neighbouring islands , food great , local people welcoming . Defiantly recommend visiting or using it as a base to go explore

Great scenic walk, we opted for the 8km Marian hill hike walk, the walk itself wasn’t as bad as we thought it was, with a gradual incline we thought it was manageable. Great views from the top and if doing the 8km walk there is a beach on the coast great for swimming and cooling off halfway through your walk. Would definitely recommend doing this walk early before the heat rises and lots of water. Our only regret was not taking any insect repellent with us.

The climb up the stairs / hill is not for the faint hearted but the views at the view point are worth it. Stunning outlook over the harbour. Recommend not doing in the midday sun.
